Linux and You

SO before I was rudely nterrupted I was going to post this.

I've been playing around with a laptop here at work getting Linux integrated with Wireless among other things and I have been having a great time customizing it. (Yea its not related to my testing but meh)

Linux has come a long way since the days of command line, the distro I have been playing with is Ubuntu now - it runs sweet and was easy as hell to install. I also installed XGL and Compiz which give you fancy wobbling menus among other things.

All and all - Linux > * (if your not playing games of course) you can do just about anything you can on windows with Email, Office etc.

Eye Candy:

For me its much more fun to use. More customizable, free - just a fun project to mess around with. Overall it uses less system resources so is not quite of a system hog. You can integrate it with almost anything nowadays as well.

Well, if you were doing something that required heavy calculation, using less resources strictly to run the OS is always a perk. I love linux because it's fun to play around with. I prefer Debian, which Ubuntu basically is, but my desktop is all fudged right now.

Oh, and I use it to make my e-penis bigger.

Not yet. I haven't actually tried any linux software yet, but Ultra Fractal (what I normally use) doesn't have anything beyond a Windows version so it kind of sucks about that. But yea, as far as my previous point goes, that would work well.

Well, image-editing always was heavy on resources so... hmmm... Don't know if there is any video editing software for Linux out there but I bet that in terms of speed it could kick windows-based systems in the a$$...

I might take a picture of mine when I decide to get XFce up and running properly, Enlightenment and Fluxbox have bothered me too much.

You would probably be able to but, you would have to use Wine with Direct X support.

From what I've read, it doesn't work very well with WINE. Generates a lot of errors. It does work with Cedega, but Cedega isn't free.

Re: Linux and You

Cedega is available through a subscription service for $5 per month. Not alot but it will add up with your subscription to EVE and what ever else you have.
