Last year I came to the conclusion that I did not enjoy consoles. I sold my PS2 and Xbox and started calling myself a PC gamer, as opposed to just a gamer. I did not get excited at all about this recent round of consoles. I thought that the PS3 looked like the coolest of the consoles, but it didn't matter much to me because I was not planning on getting any of them.
Today I stopped by gamespot and decided to try out the PS3 and the Wii out of curiosity. First I picked up the PS3 and played some racing game (forget the name). It was like any other racing game I have ever played. The graphics were slightly fancier but nothing that impressed me having played with graphics on par in many of my PC games. I got bored and put down the controller in a few min. Then I picked up the Wii-mote. The demo on the console was Excite Truck. "Oh great", I thought "another lame racing game. I hate racing games." I started playing and immediately realized this was something different. I always knew that innovative games were more fun in an industry plagued by sequels and knock offs, but because I had written off consoles I had never given the Wii a seconds thought. This game was fun, lots of fun. Not since F-Zero X on N64 had I enjoyed a single racing game. I was blown away. Nintendo had pulled off the impossible: Create a console that a die hard PC gamer like myself would enjoy (playing a racing game no less). I will be asking for a Wii for Christmas. |

Im just saying. The wii controller is neat, in the same sense that the Eyetoy is neat. I just cant bring my self to seriously using that controller, all the time. Could you imagine using the eyetoy all the time? It would be hell. But as an additional peice, it works well.

You're comparing apples to oranges Mag.
Wiimote - You are physically interacting within many of the game the Wii has out and is developing. Eyetoy - Only a handful of the games out for PS2 actually used the eyetoy. Basically, the Eye-toy was developed as a "Oh look, this would be fun" and the Wiimote was developed to interact with the user. BTW, I have not played either the PS3 or Wii, I'm just basing my arguement on what I've seen.
