LOL! Ain't this something. Just yesterday I was hiccuping for a half hour and I went through 4 glasses of water to get them to stop. Near the end of the half hour I was soo pissed they wouldn't stop.
5 weeks of this would drive me up the wall.

I've always been able to stop my hiccups just with conscious thought. I don't understand how other people can't seem to do what I do.
When I get hiccups, I just carefully breathe in and out consciously for a few minutes, monitoring my diaphragm and basically envisioning it mentally making smooth, steady movements. This immediately stops the hiccups, and after a few minutes of this I can let my lungs do their own thing and the hiccups don't return. However if I don't do it for at least 2 minutes or so the hiccups can return. Now if only I could make that work with muscle twitches and stuff. I had a twitch in my shoulder muscle the other day and no amount of concentration could make it go away... was driving me nuts. |

Bananas trigger chronic acid reflux heartburn for me. However I've started taking Prilosec OTC this week... maybe I'll be able to try one again. Haven't had a banana (or many other fruits such as watermelon and pineapple) in about a decade.

You could always try rectal massage (For the record it was linked to from wikipedia )
Also, 5 weeks is nothing. Some bloke from Iowa hiccuped for 68 years starting at a rate of 40 times a minute! |
