Okay imagine you're in a huge fight and then all of a sudden you get a warning: "Incoming Meteor Shower!" and one meteor slams down on the map. On your ingame map it would blink with a resource counter. Your goal is to get there and defend that location for resources. This is similar to the Crysis 2 crash pod game mode except in this case you'd hold it for resources.
Okay some limitations. Only happens on the border between territories and only when a battle has over a certain amount of people. (Also maybe when the forces are "equal"). I think it would add some variety to the gameplay forcing people to really fight for control of a small area for the resources. Basically as you stand on the location (circular area) your empire (or something) would gain resources over time. What do you think? Any similar ideas? |

I'd like it only if it was a GM instanced event and not something that could always happen, as that would detract too much from the main game. So yea, basically like the rabbit event whenever a GM feels like doing it.

The zerg will only ever focus on things. In PS1 it was bases and towers (sometimes a bridge) but this will be something that may divert its considerable attentions.
+1 for the random. Meteorites (meaning it survived the atmosphere and impact), quakes exposing resource veins, whatever. Scramble to get resources for your empire or deny it from another. I'm down. |

Cool idea. They could make the resource a stationary cappable base with resources added for every few minutes of holding. Or, they could not make it a base at all and force you to draw resources via an ANT to return to some sort of drop off point.
