Buggy Armament Ideas


Posted in a different thread, figured we could get some good ideas flowing in here. Hopefully the DEVS can use some of this post-launch.

Some Buggy Armament Ideas: (2 hard points)

(Hardpoint cost) / (Weapon):

(2) MRLS (multiple rocket launching system, dumb-fire similar to PS1 Reaver)
(2) Single Camera Guided Rocket (Empire Specific, NC)
(1) Flak
(2) PBC (Particle Beam Cannon, Empire Specific, VS)
(1) 12mm Gatling
(2) Twin mounted Rotary Cannon (high impact explosive rounts, Empire Specific, TR ...think "phalanx" type of guns on naval ships)
(1) EMP Pulse Launcher (mine sweeping)
(1) HDNRM (High Density Nanite Repair Module) (fast, mobile repair truck , can pull beside vehicles to repair / reload in the field)
(1) Flamethrower
(1) Grenade Launcher

How about a MAX Taxi? MAX can shoot his weapons while in the back.

Then the vehicle pads we pulled them out of could be called Maxi pads.

Sounds like a cool idea (minus the phoenix launcher of course). I'm just hoping that buggies are done better. (and they dont do that terribad driver is the gunner crap which will make buggies junk) As in they should be wanted even if you can still pull tanks. Right now only a tard pulls the ES buggies when you can get tanks. They need to fill a role tanks cant, fast, hit and run vehicles.

Things like burst modes that dish out tons of damage allowin you to hit very hard then run like hell while the long reload goes thru. Standard fire that can work at longer ranges versus armor targets so you can stay back and maneuver to fight more heavily armored vehicles, gettin close you lose badly but if played to your strengths of speed, range, and maneuverability, you can do ok on terrain that allows that. Maybe turbo boosts to help with gettin away. Or maybe small regenerating shields that recharge very very slowly but can be used when you rush in to fight, absorb some of the damage, and you quickly run away and let it recharge. Again it encourages hit and run, much like salvo modes or turbo boosts. Things that could maybe even be customized along with the weapons. Your "buggy specific special" could be the turbo or shield or salvo or whatever, mabye even some combos of each. That way the buggies get to be unique and fill a role despite their weapons.

I also LOVE the idea of a mobile active repair vehicle. Something that uses a mounted repair gun to drive around and repair. That is killer. Maybe somethin that had a secondary weak gun thats not very good for killing things but lets you atleast shoot back until you can atleast get back to friendly support. I'd drive for that, could easily find a gunner to man the repair turret. Plenty of my friends love the repair role, and would prefer this more active route over parking a lodestar or tryin to run around on foot with a repair gun.

Grenade launcher - AI
Gatling gun - AA/AI
Rocket Launcher - AV/AI
Flak turret - AV/AA
Heavy Chaingun - AV/AA/AI

Pick your chassis, pick your weapon.
