that´s the reason why they are forbidden in germany now. i think a policeman shot a kid that was stupid enough to aim at the cop with a softair gun that looked like a real machinegun at a not so bright evening.
shortly after that real looking toyguns were banned in public if they didn´t sport a bright neon red barreltip.

i think you underestimate the amount of work that goes into things like that.
if he wanted to make money with this, those guns would be a little expensive i suppose. but soe could really sell some watergun or bb ps2 weapons. serial models would still need a custom paintjob because toys always look like toys and only custom painting can pimp them to look that good. but having the body of the guns available from store would really make it possible for everyone to make some badass props
