ODST Style drops?

The new info makes mentions of encapsulations when dropping. Do you think that there will be a HUD type thing for us to see when we drop akin to Halo ODST's dropping? Also, the book Starship Trooppers references stuff of this type in case anybody read the book.

i think they're referring to the dampeners like what happens in PS1 when you bail from any aircraft that's not flying at a large angle.

It isn't a physical encapsulation. It's the PS1-style energy-like whatever it was.

Re: ODST Style drops?

Is it a question for the devs or are asking players their opinion about Halo's ODST thing ?

FYI, not everyone here played Halo either... I know that Google exists but you have to help your readers understanding what you are trying to communicate unless you do not care about their feedback.

Edit: what Sky and Zultus said. I think they just added that hot-drop comment to give more context about the world of Planetside. Their articles present NS vehicles as if it was a NS presentation to potential clients.

A Galaxy HUD to track some status of the vehicle as passenger could be cool though... But since we do not even have animations for entering vehicles, I think it is very unlikely that they spent resources developing a HUD for passengers.

Here's a screenshot of what I'm assuming he's talking about

Taken from www.wikia.com

Edit: They could have something similar to this for the squad spawning. I believe they have stated that when you spawn on your squad you drop in a pod similar to when you hart drop.

these are similar to the drop pods which will fire from orbit(presumably) when you select to spawn on a squad leader, they were in PS1 too, not in exactly the same fashion though.

I believe Matt Higby did mention drop pods returning. Now of course I think the dropping mechanism in the Galaxy will be more like PS1's but squad spawning I believe we heard was going to be through drop pods.

I think it would be awesome to see yourself from inside the drop pods, hopefully there will be a window near the floor though so you're not stuck looking out one direction.

Yep, this. I also picture an influence from the book Starship Troopers. Especially with the MAX's and again, the orbital drops.

Re: ODST Style drops?

btw, concerning vehicle HUD, they seem to be more going towards a simple overlay than showing components from inside the vehicles.

IMO, We will see this:

Not this:

So I do not think that we will have a HUD from inside the Gal even though it could look great.

Actually, when I think drop pods, I think Battlefield 2142. Especially how you could launch out of a pod in their airborne transports.
