I think something like the Arenanet Manifesto for GW2 would be perfect.

-edit- the primary thing to take away is how they explain just how much different and innovative they plan to be while showcasing what they have.

Oh look, a backhand compliment. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get under your skin.

What exactly is it you think I failed to fathom? It doesn't need to be said that Planetside 2's trailer should display it's scale, that's just too obvious, so that leaves Dust's trailer and your question. Call me stupid again if you like, but I don't see how my post displayed a misunderstanding of either.

People! People!

What we need is a guy with Fraps and a battle with 500+ people in it duking it out.

create a time lapse of the battle and boom. there you go.

Still best one for PS.

Though some humoristic stuff wouldn't be bad promos either.

Assuming it has to be corny like EVE's are you? I just want something explaining what the game is capable of and what its goal is in immersing the player. EVE's butterfly effect trailer presented an exaggeration of what the game was about, which is perfect considering how boring the game is.

Corny does not mean bad, the entire universe of WarHammer 40k is corny and yet it's awesome.

Nah it's all good bro, I think I just read your comment as an attack the first time. Obviously we both agree that future PS2 trailers shouldn't a carbon copy of any former game's trailer, but I was hoping to inspire some discussion and specific ideas for our own trailer after the beta NDA is lifted.

The first trailer for PS2, from a nostalgic standpoint, is awesome. Now that all of us vets are on board and spreading the news to gamers who never got to play the original, I think it falls on us to create some awesome fan-made trailers that rival the "classic" PS1 trailers like Canaris and Figment posted.
