C4 vs Boomer

The original boomer had a characteristic name and an aesthetically pleasing, futuristic shape.

Now the concept art for the new version is posted and it's... a WiFi router... no wait, it's.... a grey brick with an aerial... which looks uncannily like my WiFi router.

Actually what depresses me most is the name. The decade we spent fighting on Auraxis was set in a distant future where "boomer" was affectionate slang for the successor to "something like C4". Truth be told the real reason it's called C4 is because other gaming communities wouldn't recognise it unless it came with a proper washing label so they can seperate their high-explosives from their non-colour fast socks and underwear.

Bring back the boomer!
(Preferably without an aerial and washing instructions)

I like "Boomer", it sounds like a nickname soldiers gave it that just stuck.

I think it looks good, but I wouldnt want it to be called C4. I dunno if Boomer is any better, perhaps as a nickname sorta thing. Sorta like "NS E30 'Boomer'". The E30 is just a random thing I came up, but yeah, I'd like if it was something other than C4 and still had the "official nickname" Boomer.

And the argument that it's C4 cos non-PS players wouldnt know what it is is not good. With that logic the guns couldnt be named what they are, but they would just be AR-15s and AK-47s

Weapons/gadgets are gonna have a description anyways, so it doesnt matter even if new players wouldnt know what the thing is at a first glance at the name.

It looks great, the name C4 is something everyone understands, it sounds great. Now, let's find something else to argue and complain about just for the fun of it.

They could post a concept art of a constructionbolt and you would most definitely find something wrong with it.

Other FPSs call rifles rifles, so PS2 shouldn't call them rifles, they should have some futuristic slang, like bang stick!

I don't see the problem, personally. Sure, it was called boomer in PS1, but that doesn't mean anything especially important. Its just a name.

I think the only thing that makes it look stupid is the antenna.

As for the name - PS1 vets can always call it a boomer, so the new players will follow. Same way we all know barneys, fishheads, elmos, goggles, smurfs, EZmode, but they ware never officially called so...

Honestly, leave it as C4. That way I'll know a vet when I hear someone call it a Boomer, and then I can grin as people ask "What's a boomer?"
