A creepy guy with eyes brows only a woman should have showing off lame features going into a game is not the way to do it. For example, your Korean video (I think it was) is not the way to get people excited, I doubt even they liked that video lol.

Come on SOE hire people who can market this game, even on Gamebreaker they were saying how SOE always has bad trailers. I mean watching the latest "This week in MMOs" episode, they just said how bad the music was in that massive air combat video.... I agree with them. I just don't understand why SOE never has their own original music in their trailers. I don't get how you can get away with showing off a trailer with spawned static tanks... it just looked really bad lol.

Funny thing is the guy from Gamebreaker said he shouldn't be excited for this game with all the bad trailers, but he still is. This is how I feel as well and it's only because we know what Planetside is, I cannot show people these videos and have them get excited. The only videos that have shown off well with friends are the TB ones on Youtube, so thank god for them lol.

MMOs are a place where social interaction things are prized. Even an MMOFPS. Not everyone has to use them.

Why do people keep commenting on SOE's bad/nonexistent marketing for PS2?

The game isn't even in beta yet. There are PLENTY of people signed up/eligible for beta already, there is no need to market it any more than they already are. Once beta is nearly completion and the game has a solid launch date... THAT is when mainstream marketing should begin. There's no point in marketing the game now when people are just going to lose interest in <1month because the game hasn't launched yet.

That SOEmote thing is a novelty and, as far as I can tell, only for EQ2. SOE knows their market; EQ and EQ2 are still alive because of a dedicated fanbase that enjoy the lore and people who are hardcore roleplayers. You don't go to WoW if you're a roleplayer, you go to EQ2. SOEmote is for roleplayers.

Sure to us FPS fans it looks like total shit, but guess what: opinions are like assholes.

Actually, what puts me off SOE games are horrible pricing schemes, and poor commitment to a coherent vision for any of their games. That video on the other hand I have no problem with, it's like any other dev vlog you would see from any other game, and the more communication from devs the better. It has no relation to a full blown trailer, which has been confirmed that PS2 will have either way.

I'd love to have SOEmote in PS2. I remember one of the Rainbow Six games had a similar lip synch deal for online players and it was actually pretty cool.

Bright flashy explosions with no actual structure are what sells a game. Look at all Michel Bay films. Dev vlogs are there for.... development.

Yeah, who's this Wagner hack? He's never going to make it. Plus it's a total rip off from that awesome Apocolypse Now music.

Ok, so SOEmote is cool. if you don't like that, then whatevs. Are you trying to say that the trailer for SOEmote is terrible?

I agree it's not attempting for mass appeal... it's quite targetted. If you are thinking that the trailer could benefit from a movie guy voice over, some explosions and boobs, then i think you are probably barking up the wrong tree. The target audience can probably relate better to guy in the clip anyway.

Maybe they could do an SOEmote thing with boobies. You have a camera pointing at your man boobs and when you jiggle them, your female avatars boobies start jiggling too. That would be sweet.

Nobody is going to look at your mouth moving in an FPS game, and if they are, they're probably gonna die really quick.

OT: This stuff isn't necessarily bad (for EQ2 anyways...diehard fans play that game and presumably they roleplay), but in an FPS it would be a total waste of resources.
