I like the idea of having music per faction. I think that music is powerful, though. It has to be wielded intentionally and judiciously, as one would wield any great power. =)

My thoughts would be that TR should be something military, brassy and strong. Something like John Williams, Wagner, or (though I detest him) Hans Zimmer.

VS should be something electronic or techy sounding, and tracks from Red Alert or possibly other of the C&C games come to mind. Maybe some of the Mechwarrior games...

NC... We're hard. I'm thinking some sort of metal or rock would work, but then I also think you could get by with something more 60s/70s too. The counter-culture vibe would probably work well for the rebellious NC. Classically, maybe less militaristic fanfares and brass with choral elements, or something more American in sound.
