Tanks vulnerable to smaller arms fire?

Are tanks going to be in any way vulnerable to normal infantry guns like pistols rifles and snipers? And I mean vulnerable as in taking any sort of damage other than zero, even the lowest possible number

Its been vague if they do. In a few of the livecasts theve said it isnt effective. Though never stated it doesnt do anything.

If I remember correctly, small arms fire vs armored vehicles was useless in PS1.

Well, you could carry regular, and armor piercing rounds.
Regular rounds were useless against armor. Armor piercing rounds were next to useless (Though I did manage to bring down a mossie with them once or twice).

I hope heavy weapons like max/heavy class rifles and turrets have at least some effect

In the E3 footage, max anti-infantry weapons DID damage tanks (slightly), as did MG turrets. However this could just be a special case, since maxes are closer to vehicles/turrets than other infantry.

I did not see any regular infantry using small arms on tanks, and I'm about 90% sure they would've done no damage.

I hope it does small arms fire to vehicles like in PS1, to took forever but you didn't necessarily feel absolutely helpless against them.

IIRC, they were against the idea of targets being invulnerable to certain weapons. They didn't want people to feel "useless".

Personally, I hope they don't do it that way. Having a tank that is immune to rifle shots adds to immersion.

I think they should be immune because otherwise everyone shooting at a tank with mgs AND AV weapons will make them even squishier than they are now

I'm more worried about a tank that is specialized more towards anti-vehicles stuff being able to just as easily take out large groups of infantry.

I really hope not, vehicles already seem overly squishy from what I've seen on the Livestream.

I don't think they should be immune, just extremely resistant. In a video I saw an infantry focusing the back of a tank with a rifle, and I think thats a good idea. Having certain parts of the tank slightly more vulnerable to small arms fire, but still very resistant.

And an overall HP buff to tanks seems in order.

Immune I say no, highly resistant (which seems to be what they are going with) yes. I mean, I suppose I'd be okay with a Beamer or Repeater being truly useless against tanks (instead of pretty much useless), but a rifle should still do some damage, even if it is bare minimum.

From what I saw, the fragility of tanks didn't come from small-arms fire, and was simply due to the effectiveness of anti-tank weaponry... and cacti.
