Hate tells are the backbone of this game. |

By only being able to communicate with your faction you build comraderie for your side you all have the same objective and you all light heartedly rib/mock the enemy. |

If you can only conceive talking to enemy players as a format for trashtalk, you're a sad, sad being.
Only a minimal fraction of tells received are hate tells. The majority of tells between empires are praise and social banter. Just use the ignore list if hatetells are such a bother to you. Last edited by Figment; 2012-07-05 at 07:10 AM. |

Hate tells for the win.
Also, some of us have friends on the opposing side. Nice to /t them sometimes. I really like /L so you can locally chat with enemies. (like taunt them if they are around the corner.)

we had cross faction /whisper or /tell in the original and I'd like to see it return, other than using it for hate tells I liked to compliment rival pilots for excellent dog fights or to a sneaky stealthier for a well laid trap.
While I've had plenty of hate tells over the years I took and take them all as compliments of out playing and frustrating an enemy. My usual response to them is "awww that's the nicest thing you could have said to me" Rivalries can be fun!

First off, why is trash talk a bad thing per se? Especially in a game genre that breathes competitiveness? You say it isn't "conducive to building a positive social environment" (hear hear!) - and in your next sentence stress how the factions are enemies to each other. Why do we need to build a "positive social environment" again, when it's so important that we're enemies? We may want to mock and taunt our enemies - but "that must never be allowed"? Besides, I have had tons of very respectful talks with players from the opponent factions - probably more than hate tell exchanges. If it wasn't for that (and the forums), these people would've always been "those dirty VS/TR". So talk about a positive social environment - but wait! That must never be allowed! xD |
