The Terran Republic of Earth appears to be Communism with Market elements. The fact that money was still being used to facilitate the distribution of goods and services is what kept it from being a fully-achieved state of Communism.

This also led to corporate executives banding together to form the New Conglomerate, as a massive organization that can contend with the TR to gain access to alien technology.

After the destruction of Discovery-7, the TR leadership that took over as a fascist dictatorship, and used the New Conglomerate as scapegoats to blame the incident on. What was previously an adversarial business partnership between the government and a mega-corporation turned to all-out factional war.

Draconian dictatorship vs ruthless capitalists. It is no wonder why so many civilians support the Vanu Sovereignty. Even if there wasn't alien tech involved, a third force that actually represents the workers instead of the desires of NC and TR leaders would eventually come about. I'm just glad we have the weaponry and technology to mount a proper offensive against the brutal regime and corporate interests.

Back on topic. Smurfs seem more like a worker cooperative, less like communism. And communism is no threat to anyone here, none of us are part of the top 0.01%.

What makes Smurfs threatening to society is that they reinforce patriarchy. How many females are there, and how much of a voice do they have in Smurf society? Ladies looking to wear blue-and-gold, you are looking forward to the same kind of patriarchal oppression if you join the NC (or TR, they oppress EVERYONE with their policies).
