So far a little over $1000 on new PC + $20 for the july 4 station cash deal. TBH the PC is also my Pro Tools work station but it was PS2 that pushed me into builing it. I'll have to see if my old PC will even run the game. If not I'll have to do some upgrades there too so my kids can play with me.

Usually if you want your rig to keep up with modern games, you need to upgrade it at least every 5 years, maybe more often than that... and that's if you don't make a point of playing every game at ultra settings.
Personally i'll wait for PS2 to come out to buy a new rig, and then i'll keep it until they upgrade their graphics engine or until i can't play new games anymore. But that's just a coincidence that my PC is roughly old enough so i was going to upgrade it sometime around this year anyway. Edit: my point is, we're always going to try and keep up with the gaming industry. So if you buy a new rig because of a specific game, that doesn't mean this particular game made you spend any more cash than the ammount you would've already spent sometime soon anyway. I forgot about the Station Cash deal. I'm surprised that (it would seem) so many people have bought the SC for a game that isn't even out yet (isn't even in BETA yet!).
I know a handful of players from Planetside that have already upgraded their computers in lieu of the closed beta. People are definitely psyched on this game, enough to warrant spending over $1000. The build I am currently looking at will run me around $1400 for everything (OS, a new mouse, etc). The only thing I probably won't upgrade at the moment is my monitor. |

I looked at how much I've spent on planetside subscriptions over the years and got the equivalent amount of station cash on double (but mostly triple) station cash days.
Planetside 3 in 2021! Sign up now, Higby's hair will be in long hippy braids. |

every few years I up something on my comp.
I try to keep a lookout for good combo deals. you can save HUNDREDS of dollars by doing this. most expensive thing is always a video card which i usually drop around the 200 dollar mark. but like i said they normally last me several years. Ill find out in beta if I need to upgrade my pc for ps2... im pretty confident what I have now will be able to run it pretty well though. I play BF3 on highest settings and it runs perfectly. I could probably use double the ram I currently have though. currently: AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.2 ghz 4 gigs of shitty RAM (think its 1600 or 1800) Radeon HD 5800 series and a regular 1 TB HD @ 7200 all games run perfect and I expect ps2 wont be much different. I hardly ever spend over 400 dollars when upgrading my computer. And when I do its pretty much a completely new comp which would last another several years playing games at highest settings. |

i bought my gaming laptop 2 years ago, so i didn´t buy a lot of stuff new yet.
the beta will show if i have to upgrade to a new desktop gaming rig. oh but i bought a logitech g13 months ago when it was on sale specifically for ps2 (50 bucks for that plus about 30 bucks for station cash so far) if my laptop sucks at ps2, i guess i will have to spend at least 1-2 thousands on a nifty high end system. at least 16 gb ram, one or two of the latest nvidia cards and i5 or i7 cpu.i think this will be my last rig specifically for gaming, so it should be capable of handling possible future updates of planetside 2 (only game that is worth upgrading a rig for)
