At the end of the ChinaJoy Expo video posted on the Planetside YouTube Channel, There's a date @ 2:16 for 10/12/2012. Anyone know the relevance of this date? Possibly a chinese launch date?

I called my friend in China and he said that they always give out release dates at China Joy, so I'm pretty sure that is what it is.

It's the date for Open Beta. Which in China translates to "Free-to-play."

So looking at the new video where the Chinese were playing Planetside 2 at Chinajoy. I was almost about to close the video down after I saw most of it, but no. Look at 2:16 on the video, now the UK do the date of [DD : MM : YYYY] Americans [MM : DD : YYYY] Asians [YYYY : MM : DD] So look at the video xD

I really don't think this game will be release din October... Even if SOE have that as a dead line now I think it's a sure bet that it will be pushed back.

TBH I will be surprised if the game is out before Dec...

I'm under the impression beta is for balancing the weapons of war, and less so about stability and bug hunting, the bulk of said problems having been handled by hired testers and the tech test.

Once the game goes open beta, it's essentially released anyway, being an F2P.

Beta will take as long as SOE needs, but for balancing purposes, I can't imagine that taking too long with thousands of people contributing to the data pool.

More people will simply be more confusing more useless tread about misconception and wrong impression !

when a game hit (( OPEN BETA )) in a developpement process the balancing is quiet done , Open beta is mainly to stress servers and to test if the servers will be able to handles lets say 1 millions people at the same time , patching speed and all thats stuff with millions of people downloading the updates etc..

i never seen a game testing the balance issue in the open beta and anyway a videogame constantly change stuff nerf or buff stuff because a game is never perfect !

How many times does this thread need to be posted? Same speculation's occurred at least three times in only the first two pages. Is it too much to ask to actually look around, just a little, before posting your 'new' thoughts?

Most common and likely thought is that it is the start of the Chinese Tech Test or Closed Beta. Either way, I'd suggest you read through those other threads for more speculation.

nope, i dont believe that for a second. the game has been in techtest for what a 5 weeks? and thats just tech test. beta will likely be quite a bit longer. Also i dont read chinese so thats a big variable to my understanding.
