Shooting/Bumping users in infiltration suits?

Lets say I'm in an infil suit totally cloaked over in the corner. What is there to stop a defender in the base from just randomly shooting around until they see that their bullets are hitting something? Seems like if I were a defender I'd either go walking around all the crates and by all the corners seeing if I bumped into anyone or just shoot into the areas to see if I'd hit anything... Does this seem like an easy way to find hiding hackers to anybody else?

Nothings stopping you from doing that, cept it's kinda timeconsuming... Dosn't seem like an overly practical solution to me. A makeshift one when you don't have darklight, thats what i'd use it as i think.

Yeah, well, a good inf. would make sure there would be no guessing about his location and he was totally unknown.

The guestion is if you hit someone who is cloaked will they be able to be seen then for a short period of time and if not will there be a blood spray of some sort so you can see if you hit something.

If you were in a MAX armor you could accomplish that (spraying an entire area with bullets), but only really if it was a wide-open area, and if it was very flat (like, say, a courtyard) -- and even then it would be extremely time-consuming.

You've seen how big those bases are from the aerial screenshots. And interiors are a very mixed bag -- it would be pretty straightforward to make sure an infiltrator isn't in any given room, but it would be pretty hard to make sure he wasn't in ANY of them. It would be very, very time consuming even with multiple players searching.

I think that Infs will most likely get caught in the tunnels. In the tunnels, if someone bumps into you, they will whip out an automatic and start spraying, and boom -- you're gone. If you're smart you will start knifing the second they bumped into you. But if they're a MAX, well, ow.

Nothing is to stop people from spraying areas to hit you and reveal your location, but most people won't do it unless they're ready to go run for ammo. You won't be able to simply unload everywhere in a base, I wouldn't think. You'd be out of ammunition very quickly.

It's one way to find them, sure, but what if nobody is there? You'd be wasting your time. And that thought will be running through your mind the entire time.

Also, don't call them hackers. A lot of hackers won't be infiltrators, and although most infiltrators will be capable of hacking, based on what I've heard thus far, I'm sure many will be combat engineers too.

My main char (reenforced armor planned to have lots of various skills) will definitely have a little hacking ability . . . I don't want people keeping me out if I don't feel like being out.

Plus, I am interested in seeing how the sniper rifle works for shutting down those long hallways.

Knifing? I don't think they've said how strong knives will be. What if they're not as strong as you think?

Also, based on the videos I've seen thus far, I think the best way to hunt infiltrators will be to watch doors. The doors open when you come within range of them, so if a door opens and nobody is there, start shooting (or better yet, throw some plasma grenades to light'em up).

Well, with the melee boost implant, they're supposed to be INCREDIBLY strong, or at least this has been implied with the reports of the Inf with melee boost and a knife taking out an entire group of players, one at a time, from behind.

Anyone will be capable of hacking doors open and hacking a control console. Anyone with an REK anyway. Hacking and Advanced Hacking only let you do it faster, and hack terminals and vehicles. So you won't need any hacking skills to access or capture a base (thank God).

Hah, that's cool, I did not know that.

That's even better. I'll go with the first level of healing then.

Really? Where'd you hear about an infiltrator doing that?

warborn, can see a knifer kill a guy whit roughly 85hp's in agile whit 2 swings in the fileplanet/gamespy vid.. Course wheter or not the guy has a melee implant is unkown but you can see that he has the 2ndary mode on when killing him...

The 2 swings takes abit under 2 secs... pretty fast and powerfull.

Good info guys. I guess I'm still having a hard time imaging the huge size of the bases. I keep thinking t2-sized stuff that would be very easy to be found in. No way to see the entire inside of a base with just a screenshot.
