I'm looking here for constructive advice, not "lulz it sux". I have read a few reviews that all seem fairly positive. One of them said the difficulty was a bit tough and it made you learn from your mistakes a lot, which I'm okay with. All the reviews say it lacks personality and you can't connect with any of the races since there is so little a backstory.
Also, it's a bit expensive. Really I shouldn't be complaining that a game with that good of graphics and gameplay is $35, but Steam has spoiled me. I got all these great games for about $5 during the summer sale, so now when I see a $35 game I'm just think "A septuple the price?!" Anyways, looking for anyone who has played it that can give an honest review. Another question, how long is it? A lot of the more recent games I have bought have ended up just being a disappointing 6-10 hours. Some of the reviews say "This has infinite replayability", but you could say that about, say, Diablo 3 since it's randomly generated. But still, after you play through Diablo once or twice it gets dull. Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

True, but there are a lot of exceptions. Take Minecraft for example, it cost $10-15 originally, and it's one of the most famous games out there.
And that's just one example, there are many others (Braid, Bastion, Darwinia, Quantum Conundrum, Terraria, Trine, The Walking Dead, et cetera) I liked all those games way more than most AAA games, and they're all pretty cheap (most/all were under $30). You are partially right though, there have been a LOT of games that sold for cheap because they were MADE cheap. I'm still thinking about buying Endless Space though. It looks good and the more reviews I read, the more it gets such great praise, the more I want it :P |

I've been playing the game. It's quite fun: the turn-based pacing means that you can take your time with it. The music, sound effects and presentation are all very relaxing, making it a fantastic game to play if you'd like a challenging RTS that won't drive you nuts at the same time.
It has its flaws; the battle interface is overly simplistic and despite the nice graphical representation it really is an automated battle sequence that's more like spreadsheets fighting than anything else. Still, it looks nice, it sounds nice, it's got a pace that's nice and slow if you're in the market for that sort of thing. I recommend. |
