what is a continent

i see people referring to continents a lot but theres no real explanation of what one is. is it a server? or is it the starting zone for each faction?

It's the various combat maps. Each island is considered a continent, due to the first game where all the maps together formed Auraxis.

Yup, continents are maps of +/- 64 square km. They hold +/- 2000 players.

To be clearer, there are two continents at the moment, but there will be three very soon. You can warp between the in the warpgate, using the terminals with a planet on them. They're basically maps in a normal FPS, but very, very big.

As of today third continent is in. First was desert, second icy, third is like a jungle I believe.
