How to choose squads

Not sure if we can do this but can you join squads of the ppl that are around you in a fight? I know they're in a squad because it's a huge convoy. I press the auto join and I'm in a squad on the other side of the map. If I want to join a squad with my buds in, I have to get one of them to invite me, or I have to look for them in the friends list ect.

You can see a list of avaible squads in the menu.

Hit "esc", check one of the more weird symbols at the bottom (2nd from right?), and go to "squads".

...atleast something like that lol, currently at work here, so can't check it up. Hope it helped.
