Ah MAG, how I loved you.
If only we could make our own loadouts like in MAG. I fitted both a repair tool and the medic gun into everything I could just to help the team. Even if I had to give up better armor, not use the best gun attachments, or special gear (the F90 was ALL I needed) I would have both tools when defending. Just so I could be an ass to the enemy by repairing the AAA, keeping roadblocks up, or getting our bunkers back so the defenders could make a push with still being able to keep troop at the fronts up and alive. Still pisses me off how Zipper treated MAG. So many bad maps with horrid choices. Raven got fucked hard with it's maps either having defenders spawns to far to support objectives, their Domination map NOT HAVING ANY ROOFS over it's final objective, giving attackers more cover than defenders, AND putting several objectives closer to attacker spawns. SVER got both maps filled with bottle neck after bottle neck and HUGE dead mans lands all while having far better overlapping fields of fire from their bunker turrets. Valor on the other hand wasn't that bad. |

I understand the problems with m+kb players against controller players, most FPS it would matter, I really don't think with PS2 it would in the end be a big deal.
I'll have a Ps4 at launch, whatever their big bad one is, so I can retire the PS3 to the storage with the Atari and all the other dead consoles while my PS4 fights with the WiiU, Xbox and DVR for space. However, I doubt I'd ever play PS2 on it. I would like to see an expansion in the player base and this would be an almost tailor made convergence. When my PC was dead, I was forced to play MAG on the PS3, and while run'n'gun was not the fun a PC can bring, it wasn't bad. This is all about making sure Planetside grows, expands and doesn't fall away. PS4 at launch will have a limited set of games, if and the big if here is IF Sony can port the game, cross platform to the PS4 with little in the way of cost... score. Score all around for all of us.

The PS3 had no problems with Kb/M. Unreal Tournament 3 had full Kb/M support, Im certain that if devs wanted it they will be able to put Kb/M support in any game on PS4. But that's the problem, devs had to put it in the game first.
People seem to forget that UT3 had full support for not only Kb/M but mods as well. If anything a pad is better than Kb/M for some stuff. Like having a constant and variable input for aircraft control, being able to have near perfect control of your movement, or, or um.. yeah that's about it. |

Regarding aim-assist. It really depends on how it's implemented. If it's implemented like in a certain competitor, then you'll never miss. Ever.
However, you could do a tolerance thing where if they get out of that tolerance you lose lock (be it weapon climb or their movement). |

I could see it happen. Also I would hate to see it happen because the game will stay as dumbed down as it is. If it's gonna be a big console game I don't expect much more depth. If they don't implement more depth in the next 6 months I'm outta here.
Also: cross platform gaming will not happen. Like always. Sadly. Because it would be really fun for us. .sent via phone.

PS2 reminds me of MAG a lot. Pretty much why I got into it to begin with. I miss MAG.. it was great for a short period.
The thing is the game will have to be cross platform... why? Because we need numbers in our game. If the consoles have a more consistant playerbase to play against then you will probably see a lot of PC players switch to console just so they can have constant action on all maps. The whole kb + m thing is a non-issue since I am sure the PS4 will have usb support for those since more and more MMOs are coming out and even F2P so they will lose market share if they can't get those games on to the console in some way.. look at PS3 it has FreeRealms and DCUO already on it. The downside to making the game run on PS4 is that computers are already as powerful or better than consoles. So if you make it PS4 compatible then the graphics will probably never improve from what they are now and they will probably have to be more careful about assets loaded into the game down the road. Computers will expand so generally MMOs can add more later as computers evolve.. not the same with consoles. 5-6 years from now the PS4 will have the same hardware it has at launch. |
