So, I've always been really frustrated by this, but here's the situation I was in that just made me quit and type this out.
I just recently certed up for extra grenades on my heavy, so I have 2 anti-tank grenades, and let me tell you, it can be pretty overpowered in certain situations, just like the one I was in. But that discussion is for another thread. Anyway, I'm at a tech plant and I see a huge number of VS in a room, I believe they were defending a generator. There was several MAXs in there, and I tossed both of my grenades. Bam, instantly got like 4-5 kills as I blasted one of the MAXs in the face with my Deci, then I'm busting out the MCG, and just as I'm moving into position next to the door, some genius teammate has the same idea but doesn't realize he's walking ON TOP OF ME and lets loose on the trigger. Every single bullet hits me in the head, because we're at the same height, same position. But he can't tell that, because if you're on top of eachother you can see right through them. I don't think there's any enemy player collision as well, so close range fights can often have you both move through one another and it gets all wonky when you have to 180. Player collision would fix this nonsense, but I can obviously understand the difficulty of adding something like that, and even the reward is just a minor fix by comparison to some of the current issues this game faces. Still, I feel like it would help to see how many other people are bothered by this, or to maybe point it out to people that haven't noticed it. It should also be noted that Planetside 1 did have player collision, but it was very warpy. |

There is player collision. Sometimes. I ran into a heavy coming up some stairs and could run behind him to shoot him, but was stuck staring him the face. Barely won.
Collision is Off at the Warp Gates. Not sure about anywhere else tho... |

Teammates NEVER have collision, which is where I think the biggest issue lies anyway, because it makes you move through each other and accidentally friendly fire. |

However there'd be more griefing potential, especially for people who switch factions and then pull a MAX to block doorways and staircases. |

I don't really see anyone going through the enemy and the situations where it happens to me, there's collision. So I'm quite sure you can't run through your enemy. I'm waiting for tests. I don't have any ps2 friends so can't test it myself.

One of the things I've found annoying concerning collision is that sometimes I'll drive right over an enemy with my Lightning, and I can see them go through my tank, but it doesn't kill them. It would be nice to at least have player/vehicle collision. And a "Squish" sound would be most satisfying. I would run people over all day.

If the buildings are designed well the entire "they'd block doors" argument is void. Widen them a bit, there are plenty more exits than in PS1, prevent blocking within a few meters of the spawntubes. DONE.
That's just like doors, the sole reason they're not there is a potential lag issue. I'd take ANY lag issue over NOT having doors. It's simply a matter of weighing arguments and assigning the right weight to the right argument. |

This has been addressed before.
Friendly collisions makes a less realistic game than no friendly collisions. In reality "friendly" people shift their bodies slightly and are remarkably capable of passing one anther in small areas. Consider a busy sidewalk in Manhattan or people outside a sporting event. There is a cut off of sorts will movement becomes seriously hindered but its only at an extreme unnatural density that people almost never put themselves in - such as prisoners on a train car or people pushed up to a gate by a crowd.
