This may seem a little strange but I have read stories about people getting banned from Planetside 2 for no reason. I am cconcerned that if for some reason my Planetside 2 account is banned by error I would no longer be able to play my other non free to play games on steam. Would anybody be able adress these concerns?

I would suggest cross-account banning would not occur. Steam / Valve / SOE are seperate entities.
It would be like getting banned on Origin and at the same time getting the ban hammer from Steam... unlikely. |

your PlanetSide 2 account is completely separate to your steam account; your steam account will not be effected in any shape or form.
i was accidently banned from the game for a short period as were many others due to a server error or something, and i can confirm that my steam account was not effected at all. |
