Related question: If I buy a weapon for one class (for example, a carbine for Light Assault), was it also purchased for other classes that can use the weapon (in this case, Engineer)?
If I buy an accessory (for example, an optic for the default light machine gun that Heavy Assault starts with), is it available for other weapons of that type? |

You won't ever get something back, or you have to pay for it. :-D
Your other question, if you buy a weapon with certs on a character, all classes can use this weapon and share the extensions. If you buy a weapon with station cash, all characters can use it, if they match class and faction restrictions. SerethiX - www.serethi.de

As Serethix has stated...
No - you wont get your certs back... Yes, you can use weapons that use the same class characteristics. Accessories are a mixed bag. If you buy a laser sight for your pistol, it wll be available to every class that uses that pistol. However, if you buy a NVIR sight for your engineer's SMG, it will not be available to your HA's LMG. Last edited by OCNSethy; 2013-07-16 at 01:15 AM. |

This gives me an idea.
Sell your gear back for half the certs. That way, if you regret buying something, you get some of your certs back and can get it again later if you want. Sure, you can test things in VR where you can use everything. But there's a difference between VR and real combat. |
