I don't understand the new territory lock system

I joined PS2 about a year and half ago. And I noticed a big change in the territory lock. Some kind of lines connecting one territory to another. I though that If I own a territory A with a connection to territory B I could try to cap B.

But today I tried to cap a territory with a clear connection on the map, but when I reached the cap point the game it was locked. So I think I'm missing something.

I think the station I was trying to cap was Red ridge comms. But I'm not sure.

Checked that the previous base was 100 percent yours?

If they just capped one point, you can't take the next one

That would be the lattice system. The base where you just came from has to remain uncontested in order to be able to capture the next base in the link.
