Chatper One: Prologue TIME: 02:16 Auraxis Standard Time (AST) LOCATION: Indar, Zurvan Amp Station MISSION TIME: 0h 27m 12s Even the most loyal, most battle hardened veteran in the Terran Republic had to agree that Zurvan looked beautiful under Vanu control, especially at night; the perfect clash of cyan and purple of the Spear Turrets across the heavy walls against the darkness of the Indarian night was a thing of beauty. A certain eerie, mystic aura surrounded the large facility, much like the heavy Magrider tanks that were circling it on their routine patrol, their powerful hover engines kicking dust clouds around as they came in and out of the two large shielded gates of the base. Reports from their scouts stated that the Terran filth, having taken The Crown, had split their forces, so while the 335th Mechanized Infantry Division mobalized to attack TI Alloys to make a headway for an assault on the Allatum area, both the 3rd Armored Battlion and 76th Infantry Division were preparing to deploy in Zurvan But The Enlightened will never be caught off guard. Teams of men, Children of Vanu, armed with Lancer and S-1 Rocket Launchers were prepared, standing ready on the walls along with the men manning the powerful Spear Turrets, to eradicate whatever pitiful armored attack the Terrans had to send their way while squads of infantrymen, carrying heavy Lasher-X2 supression weapons, paired with snipers carrying the deadly Parralax rifles were patroling the surrounding area. the Oppressors could only take a single outlying base if they ever dreamed of staging a serious attack on the Amp Station and the men defending the main facility were prepared to make the night as bright as day before they allowed that to happen. Inside one of the towers' middle floor, one of the Vanu soldiers, a slender girl, draped in the notorius purple, skin tight body armor, perked her head. That sound, she knew that deep rumbling sound, the engine of a Nanite Systems Flash ATV. Shouldering her Orion LMG and staring down the X4 sight, she scanned her surroundings; the Indarian desert returned a piercing silence, nothing. Wishing to fulfill her purpose, the young zealot stepped forward, then took another step, closer to the ledge, to inspect the bottom of the tower. She crouched down, placing the LMG beside her and took a peek, her eyes met with the unmistakeable form of a Flash, equipped with a Wraith module, a mobile cloaking device. The girl quickly scrambled to her feet, grabbing her Orion as she got up, her heart raced; the base has been compromised. "Infiltra-" She yelled, but was quickly silenced by a loud gunshot. The bullet pierced her delicate features below her chin, exiting through the back of her head in an explosion of helmet bits and gore. A soldier manning the ledge next to her, a Medic, quickly rushed to her, drawing his Medical Applicator, there was time to get her back to combat. He was taking aim at her when a soft 'thud' reached his ears, the next thing he felt was the searing pain of a Terran Chainblade-a combat knife with whirling blades, tearing through his insides, as a powerful hand was placed on mouth, muffling his pain filled cry "No tears" a raspy voice whispered in his ear, as his vision was darkening "Just dreams now" "Light Asault, Tower C!" He heard a voice behind him and swerved, still holding the writhing body of the dying Medic in his hand. Two purple clad soldiers came rushing up the stairs, firing their weapons. The Light Assault allowd the body of their comrade to absorb the brilliant streaks of light while drawing his Nighthawk Shotgun with his other hand, he opened fire, filling the air with deadly pellets and gunning the two men down. Dropping the Medic's now lifeless body, the Light Assault proceeded to take the stairs to the base of the tower, as he approached, a figure materialized in front of him; a TR Infiltrator who was halfway through exchanging the magazine on his rifle. "Three" The Light Assault said, the Infiltrator returned a stare through the red lenses of the Spectre mask and drew a cylinder shaped object- a Squad Beacon from his belt "Sure" The Light Assault droned "Take the fun out of it" and drew a beacon of his own, both planting them at the base of the tower, allowing the beacons to prime and shoot thick red beams into the sky. The Infiltrator placed two fingers on his left ear. "Flankers, deploy. Secure the top of the tower and proceed to the perimiter walls" his voice rang through the Light Assault's earpiece. Up in the dark Indarian sky, twenty two bright yellow lights ignited. The Vanu troops, both fresh and Veteran, knew what those were; TR Drop Pods, the heratics were coming. A Vanu Engineer ran for the closest Anti Air Turret, jumping in and locking the door behind him. He hopped on the controls and was about to arm the two powerful guns when realization struck him; a slab of C4 explosives was attached to the Heads Up Display screen. His eyes widened as he leapt off the chair, virtually throwing himself against the door and hammering it with his fists before the explosive went off, engulfing him in a bright orange fireball that kncoked the remaining Vanu soldiers, standing outside the turret, off their feet. That's when the Drop Pods hit. The first three pods came crashing down, squishing at least half of the Vanu forces on top of the tower, their comrades staring in terror as the pods opened and nothing but a stream of bullets and death came out. On the walls, the Infiltrator was busy hacking one of the Spear turrets, his training did not fail as he was soon able to access the door controls and open them. The shocked Vanu soldier looked at the odd visitor with surprise before a burst of bullets tore his lower jaw clear off. Leaving that turret, the Infiltrator proceeded to hack a second one, this one was empty, he allowed himself in and activated the powerful 150mm cannon, targeting one of the Magrider tanks in a two-tank patrol, he took a shot, directly hitting the rear of the egg shaped tank, which caused it to explode in a green fireball of scrap metal. The second tank swerved heavily and opened fire, hitting just below the turret as the powerful barrel spewed death again, hitting the tank's gun and causing it to catch fire. The second shot was carefully aimed, directly hitting the exit hatch of the Magrider and bending it out of shape. A grin crept across the cloaker's face when the screams of the men trapped inside finally reached his ears. He exited the turret and headed back to the tower, which was by now fully secured by TR forced, on his way, he saw a Vanu response squad, all pouring out of one of the emergency tunnels, only to be gunned down by two whirling Onslaught Class chainguns, wielded by a MAX suit, he could hear the maniacal laughter of the woman inside the red and black exo-skeleton, feeling her glee as she cut those men and women to shreds. No one will make fun of her ever again. On his Tac-Map, he could see the mission unfolding as planned, TR armor was now securing the outlying base, while the infantry headed to secure the same tower and walls as he and his unit did. He reached his ear "Flankers, we're done here" On top of the tower, the Light Assault drew his Commissioner revolver, placed the barrel under his jaw, and pulled the trigger. |
