Hi there!
To keep this simple, otherwise I'll be here for hours. I'd like some advice on what to choose and what the capabilities of each are. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2Lux0 Thats a build that I pieced together after stalking lots of forums on the matter. Ideally I didn't want to go over £800 (I could probs knock off a little from the case or something) but thats Ok. After speaking to a couple friends, we checked out some premade gaming computers and I found this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/deskto...32014-pdt.html Slap bang on my budget, looks awesome, has an i5 processor and Nividia GPU (was told that both of these were great for PS2) but will it be enough? Ideally I would prefer to just go down to the shop and pick that up because as I mentioned, I really don't know what I'm doing. So thats it, would the Cyberpower be able to compete with the custom build I came up with, and are there any tweaks I could/should make to the custom one? Thanks in advance! |

I say BUILD!
Here is a build from OCUK: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce - £259.99 Intel Core i5-4670K - £169.99 Gigabyte Z87-D3HP - £107.99 Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM - £69.95 Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz - £65.99 Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 - £49.99 NZXT Source 210 Elite Midi Tower Case - £39.95 Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB - £38.99 OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter - £16.99 Total = £819.83 including VAT A bit over your budget, but the GTX 770 is a good deal faster compared to the 760. Here is some benchmarks comparing the two. You also retain the 4670K if you want to overclock in the future. With that in mind the system is more powerful compared to what you built and the Cyberpower PC. Keep in mind I did take out the H60 due keeping your budget under control and make it more comparable to the Cyberpower. IMO just buy the H60 in a couple months if you wish to overclock your CPU. If you played with legos as a kid there is NO reason why you shouldn't be able to build your own PC.

Thanks for the reply c:
Upon a little more research I'm still stuck, the CPU being the same on the Cyber power but losing the ability to overclock...am I likely to need to overclock anyway? The Difference in graphics cards comes down to little as well, the Radeon coming out around 10% better (apparently). Same memory on both, bigger hard-drive on the Cyber, though not really needed, and a very tasty looking case. Thanks for the suggestions as well, you still made it cheaper than what I picked! Biggest question I have now is, how useful is the ability to overclock? Am I gonna need it to run games (mainly Planetside 2) on higher settings? |

I highly recommend building this on your own.
In terms of the CPU I would just go with the 4670K. It has the added benefit of being able to overclock in the future. You can have decent gains depending on the game when overclocking. PS2 is one such game. Performance in PS2 will still be good without overclocking, but itdoes certainly help. Don't expect it to double your FPS though. That 7870 you are looking isn't nearly as fast as a 760, and the 770 blows it out of the water. Not exactly sure what you were looking at to think that. If you wanted a Radeon to match a 770 you would need a 7970 or 280X. For the hard drive I have been using 1TB for years now and never ran into space issues. Though I am not storing any kind of media (no HD porn) or say a butt load of music. I personally would go for a better case if you want one. You will be looking at for years to come, so splurge on it. I only chose that one to help keep the budget down.
