I ended up building a new rig last week. It cost me around $1200 total and I only recycled my current monitor. I think I'm pretty happy with it and it should run PS2 just fine:
i5-3750K @ 4.2GHZ 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 128GB Sandforce based SSD ASRock Extreme4 Z77 Mobo Just a note for those of you that are thinking about building a new rig... I really like the Extreme4 price per performance. If you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, it seems to be a fantastic board. |

Well, considering I'm intending to drop about $1500 on a new rig, in part so I can play PS2...
Notwithstanding that, I'll opt for a monthly "premium subscription" or whatever, if they have the option. Aside from this, it has also cost a chunk of my sanity via some of the threads around here... |

I don't believe that you should include a new PC build into the cost of one game, its highly unlikely that you will use the new PC exclusively for one game or just for gaming. A new rig is an option that is totally up to yourself, if you are a true gamer and you have a rig older than 3-4 years you honestly should start playing sims online. Real gamers upgrade at least once per year to keep up to date with new technologies.
The game right now has cost all of us $0.00 and even when its released I imagine lots of people will never buy anything, but I expect to throw a lot of money at this game as its my hobby, like biking or fishing you spend money on your interests right? |

So far zero, I was gonna buy some station cash but then I won a bunch in an outfit raffle. This won't last long, though, as it looks like my computer won't be up to the task of running Planetside 2, though still waiting for beta to see just how much it lags before I order anything.
Seeing as I built my current system in 2008 with such advanced components as a Core2Duo E8400 @3Ghz and a 8800GT I'm probably looking at 800ish $ for an i5, mobo, 560 Ti and PSU I'm chalking this all up to Planetside 2 since before that I had no real incentive to upgrade Last edited by FastAndFree; 2012-08-02 at 03:50 AM. |

PS2 has cost me around 2000 euro so far !
I kid, of course Just built a shiny new gaming rig (which has been a looong time overdue), so I cannot hang the bill on PS2. But I can say that PS2 was a strong motivator to do the upgrade at this point Win 7 ultimate i7 3770K Corsair H80 liquid cooler Asus P8Z-77V Deluxe GSkill Ripjaw16Gb RAM Asus 680 GTX 2x 120GB SSD WD Black 2Tb HDD Corsair Graphite 600T case Seasonic 760W PSU Logitech G600 mouse I'm sure that should keep me going for a while... Now I just need to find a museum that will take my old system |

None yet... I'll probably wait till release and then upgrade my CPU/Mobo and get a 680 or w/e the newest card out at the time is...
I'll also probably end up getting another 24" monitor so I can have a 3 monitor set up.. If its even going to be supported by PS2? |

I spent about 1200 on a new build about 2 years ago.Silly me upgraded for Bf3,which i played for about2 months.Other than that,I haven't been gaming at all,for there is nothing of quality to play. This will be the first game to stretch my computer to its limits, hopefully.
I also have 60$ set aside that I will be spending in the cash shop. 2 580 superclocked sli quad core i7 2.4 @3.2 asus p6x58d premium 1366 6 gigs mushkin enhanced 28" hans g 24"dell ultrasharp antec full tower Last edited by Beerwig; 2012-08-02 at 10:55 AM. |

My current rig is about a year old, and runs most games pretty well with high settings. I'm definitely going to upgrade my GPU soon though as it's about 2 years old. I'm not sure if doing it now is a good idea though, what with the fact that there's currently no machine that can reliably run PS2 on max settings. =/
I might wait a while until the technology is there and you don't have to use text commands to crank the game all the way up. |

I'm going to wait and see where my system is lacking before I upgrade random parts of it. lol
It runs BF3 at almost max settings at 2560x1600 so I'm hoping PS2 is similar at that res. If not, I have a 1920x1080 Acer panel I will use. I hope I don't have to spend a tgon of money to play PS2....I still want new tires for my truck (cringe). |
