The Bob and Tom show is a morning radio show that runs from 5am to 9am in most parts of the country that often has stand up comics as guests. Yes they do use sections of older shows (usually live in studio performaces by musical comedians like Steven Lynch, DaVinchi's Notebook, Heywood Banks etc.) but the majoirty of any mornings show is live stuff. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you caught a "Best of" show. They generally do those when they are on vacation. They do that for the major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christams/New Years (in fact they had two weeks off for christmas and they'll just be back in the studio tomorrw morning...well actually this morning since it's about 1am now).

The fact that you mentioned no background music really makes me laugh. Tom (one of the hosts) has made a point about that exact same thing many times. That point being it's sad that radio stations think they need to have a bad background beat running whenever there isn't actual music being played on the station. Yes there is no background music like most local morning shows because people being funny on the radio are generally more entertaining without a shitty disco/techo beat constantly going in the background...unless of course those people were never funny to begin with.

I have yet to go to a standup show were the comedians needed background music as a crutch to keep their audience entertained. Shit, if any comedian needed background music to keep me entertained I'm pretty sure I'd walk out after getting my money back

If any of you have never checked them out I'd suggest giving them a shot if you're up early enough to listen to it or actually another way you could listen is if you get the VIP pass to their website (www.bobandtom.com). There is a monthly fee but I think it's only like $6/month or something. You can listen to a huge audio library and you can listen to live shows dating two months back. I actually love it for playing FFXI. It's like watching a funny T.V. show only there's no picture to watch so it's not a distraction from what I'm doing in game
