If you want to get technical about it, no games (including PS2) have achieved true global illumination :)
I was referring to the actual metal surfaces (both the Vanu armor and Galaxy hull) probably averaging multiple vectors to grab large nearby surfaces and reflect their light intensity and color, which isn't technically GI but is close enough for gaming, and a hell of a lot less taxing to the processor. Frostbite 2 and CryEngine 3 (or at least early tech demos) have demonstrated some crude radiosity effects, but again this is only for certain objects and only under certain circumstances. That being said, even the fact that they're attempting effects like this on an MMO scale is incredible. I'm definitely building a machine dedicated to PS2 and taking max-quality HD video. |

Looks awesome! Possibly a little long, looks like the front bit is unnecessary. I think either it should be shortened just a little at the front, or the front segment of the tank could hinge in the middle so it felt like it could move over rough terrain without snapping in half.
Very nice looking design overall though, this game continues to impress! |

Actually it reminds me of the Churchill, vertically flattened:
Anyways. I'm not too keen on the proportions and the versatility concept. :/ I'm missing fighting niche units with their individual hull/turret profiles, quirks and weaknesses. Really like that about World of Tanks for instance, it shows just how much design can differ if you have a different role in mind. I'd like PS2 to allow for more different strategies than slight changes in performance of the same kind. More niche vehicles please! |

So it looks like instead of the Self Propelled Air Defence they are taking it away from the Buggy Chassy and giving it to the Lightning.
Also it looks like the Lightning is a single seater so we might have 2 seater battle tanks. My hopes are up. |
