I assumed the Sunderer would be dropped, but that creates a lack of a big ground transport vehicle. A Deli is nice (I switched certs between AMS and Deli back when I was playing) but an MBT-sized transport IFV (rather than a gianormous truck with useless guns) would be awesome. I think Matt or Smed hinted that the AMS will be gone, since it was inconvenient for players to be limited to the single closest AMS in terms of spawn locations... The new spawn system still confuses me, but if the AMS is to be removed, the 14th vehicle may be a heavy ground transport, instead. I also wasn't sure whether or not the Lightning (or its equivalent) will be dropped. It was a popular choice among players, though. The Wraith may be the 14th/15th vehicle instead of the Deli/Sunderer/Lightning, however. Or the generic ATV may become cloakable based on the skill tree... So many questions... As for the "Scout Vehicle" I don't think it would make sense to include the Harrasser in PlanetSide 2. It was essentially the poor man's buggy/Skyguard. I would expect an AA buggy to be the last vehicle - somehow I can't imagine a Pounder with a flak launcher... Last edited by FIREk; 2011-07-20 at 08:44 PM. |

You can run steam anyway if you want the friends list or overlay. Also having steam as a digital distribution partner isnt the same as saying you would like the box, but for the install to be integral with steam. So out of everything steam does I was/am curious which part of the functionality he was after specifically. |

And you cant forget Steam. Being on there alone makes a huge difference look at the crysis 2 mappack It sold like crap cause it wasnt available on steam, most people didnt even know about it. Hopefully SoE doesnt go braindead like activision/EA and puts PS2 on Steam from day 1. |

Easily balanced. Sea vessels would just have sizably more armor and firepower than land vehicles, and obviously much better speed on water than a mag. Much like the navy's hovercraft can be versatile and go land and sea, but they cant take on a cruiser or destroyer or really any water only attack ships.
Lets the mags keep the advantage but those who actually get watercraft which are limited to only water, will have the advantage. Pure watercraft are limited to water areas only and would need to be powerful in order to make up for their limited terrain usage. You would have water resources to gather and with decent range on the watercraft you could use them when assaulting anything near shores or on islands makin them a very unique and useful part of the game. Going back a few pages to those asking "Why pre-order", some companies/stores use pre-orders to gauge how many non pre-order copies to bring in.
The more popular a game is, the more pre-orders there will (in theory) be and the companies will multiply that number by 'X' and get an estimate of how many off-the-street sales there will (again, in theory) be. So if too many people take the stance of "I won't bother pre-ordering, I'll just stop by the store and pick it up", there won't be many copies to be had. This, of course, only relates to off-line sales. |

One could argue that grenades, rocklets and the knives may not count as "unique weapons", it may refer to just actual firearms.
That being said, they are not bringing all that back, unless fe. the Cycler or Gauss rifle are still named that, but just look so very different (in the trailers/screenies) |

Two things:
1) How does pre-ordering fit with the F2P part of the game? Will it be F2P until BR 5? until 10? At what point do we need a "boxed" copy or full paid for Steam copy, etc. 2) What, if any, "pre-order deals" do we foresee happening in the future? I am not a big fan of the bonus pre-order package idea, but it could yield a lot of extra TV ad time with deals from Gamestop and friends backing their version of the pre-order. Does the ecosystem of PS2 allow for "free glowing armbands" and "stickers" based on a pre-order package? (effectively a 3rd question, to what degree do we get to play dress up, outside of merits and the skill tree?) |
