Wow...for a long time over at Mordor, if someone started a Planetside 2 topic, it got moved to off-topic...but now they've started deleting individual posts if you mention it in an existing thread.
Perhaps a 1 off glitch, perhaps not...but a guy mentioned PS2 in a thread, I replied to it, both gone 2 minutes later. |

wtf? don´t know these mordor forums, do they have a rule to not mention any other computergame? how stupid...
if that´s not in the rules, it´s certainly naked fear that planetside 2 might suck up the whole playerbase and shut down their bf series because ps2 is free and nobody would buy a 60 bucks game if he can have a massively better game for free...

I was the EAUK poster who had his posts about PS2 deleted; the Moderator threatened to ban me if I posted anything else about it and said that others have been permanently banned in the past for posting about Red Orchestra 2 in the BF forum. It seems that even though DICE and EA don't actually care about long time BF fans, they care if they are drawn away to a product that seems to be closer to something that we want.
I personally think that the bigger the battles and more complex the game the better, so PS2 seems more like my kind of game than BF3. |

i´m still convinced, that beta will show how it all works out, and that there will be a shitload of chances to change something that´s broken. just look at the dev activity on this inofficial fanforum! at alpha stage! and even before alpha! now imagine how we will communicate with them, when they are free to talk because we are under beta nda as well! we will get a massive game for sure, with absolutely no competition that comes even close to the scale. and when it releases with all the dedicated betaplayers already delivering the warfare scenery for incoming noobs, it will suck in sooooo many shooter-players from all other games. deleting posts on official forums will not stop this.

If you want to spread word of PS2 on those forums, I would suggest getting a lot of people to actively post in threads. And every now and then make a thread that talks about PS2. All posts and threads should have legitimate comments in them, and you can just add a little "Check this game out" kind of sentence at the bottom.
Do that for a week straight and I'm sure you can get the word out. edit I tried to turn "week straight" into a hyperlink of Morto's 45min GDC video as an example, but it just kept putting the video itself in the post. Guess I messed up something(not an avid forum goer). If your subtle, a few of your posts will go unnoticed by the admins and the word would spread. As for "modern shooter elements" I don't mind things like weapon sway and the weapon moving back and forth while sprinting, but I do mind dumbing down of game complexity and reduction of teamwork tools. Will PS2 have any sort of "Commander" for Empires? I understand there will be squad leaders, but is there any larger command hierarchy on top of that? |

sooner or later you will know which leaders are worth their water and that will make them the empire highcommand even if there is no game mechanic for that. in ps1 i always knew which leaders i would have to take serious. some names just stood out a lot, and others would be identified by their outfit name.
i think a game mechanic that promotes you to some kind of empire commander would be something, the zerg outfits would heavily go after and so it will be of no use anymore

To be fair, I can understand them not wanting us to discussing and promoting a "rival" game. but then, I haven't mentioned it explicitly in a couple days, or if so it was part of "we'll have alternatives" and then list several other games as well.
doesn't make it right, just understandable |

On global/continental commander (maybe last AGN night covered it, but I haven't found the time to watch it yet)...
I think it would be a good solution if you could sign up for other squad or platoon readers missions. You know, like in twitter. Everyone can easily decide who's missions worth following and who should they put on ignore. (Ignoring doesn't mean that the given commander is bad or a complete mofo - but there may be commanders who focus more on air, while you have a grunt squad, or you may simply not like the style and approach of him/her - therefore you are usually not interested in his missions.) The commander should approve you as a "follower" and he would always have a vague idea how much follower he has (and maybe how much manpower that means). Approval is needed to stop "spying". Once the "link" is up, you should see your choosen commanders missions - nothing more. No way to talk back, no need to critisie - could just keep an eye on his missions and act accordingly if you want. This way the commanders with the most followers could step up and plan in a larger scale. This would help inter-oufit actions too. |

Are we? I always thought CR5s were one of the best inventions of Planetside, especially globals. Yes, it falls down if CSRs aren't there to slap people who abuse it, but otherwise I think it was one of those sandboxy "the players make the content" things. I'll be rather disappointed if making quests is the only way for leaders to communicate with their empire...How impersonal.
