Playing with the scale and hypothetical distribution of units is a lot of fun. It really is educational in a way as well, and assuming that the developers succeed in making backhacks be the exception and not the norm, I think we will see something very similar to what you show as far as frontline distributions of players.
If the battle line system works as intended, there will be no shortage of variety to fights. Plenty of large and small 2 way battles between every pairing of two empires, as well as large 3 way battles (maybe even a few small ones too) centered around the areas where all three empires borders meet up.
It's hard to comprehend that Planetside, for all if it's scale, only have 133 players per side on a continent. I think we will easily see 200vs200vs200 or even 300vs 300 fights be the norm in some of the larger fights on each continent. 400 players is what an entire continent could hold in the first game, but it seems like they are aiming for that to be the average population of just one of several large battles on a continent in PS2.
Very cool picture with all of the dots though. I did a similar image with numerical numbers as placeholders for units, but it's much more interesting to see a dot for each unit. This game is going to be insane.
