The first time i came to the new page i wasn't really paying attention, so i thought i misclicked and missed PSU, so i reclicked the bookmark. it brought me to the same page again, so i tried a third time before i realized that the page had changed. ;D
I personally don't like it but maybe I'm being a nostalgic hipster-type loser. Doesn't really affect the functionality so I can't complain though |

Its very..., square, still. Kind of minimalistic/simple. Feels more like a default theme to one of those free forums that have interactive configurations.
I guess I just expected the feel of the layout to change. It's still just as functional, so meh to my opinion. :P |

I appreciate coming here and getting the scoop on PS2. I like reading through the comments everyone makes and all of the inside access to the Dev team, game news, and media. I am grateful you exist Planetside-Universe.com!
That being said you asked for my opinion. As the primary fansite for this upcoming gem of a game, the site looks great for the format it is in (a web 1.0 type presentation). If you are happy with the format then I would suggest perhaps modifying the color scheme a bit to pull in some of the primary PS2 faction colors. I don't have much beyond that if you are happy with your current format. I'll be coming back most days for more news, fellow members thoughts and more media drippings of beta even if, on a whim you change to a text only site. If you want a recommendation, I'd say that as the primary fansite, for a hopefully very modern game, you may want to consider a more modern web 2.0 approach. This is a not a criticism. I feel long term game supporter sites like psu deserve to have a place of dominance when it comes time for a new version of something they have supported so long is ready to launch. I am not so sure the format currently connects or relates to its subject. The features are great, don't get me wrong. but it has a Web 1.0 feel to it that says "this is my dads game not mine to my 8 year old". Granted I know the target audience is a *bit* older. =) My recommendation is to seek inspiration from some of the pay templates available at Rockettheme.com I was a paying developer member of their site when I developed on the Joomla cms. I have long since moved on from them as I no longer work for the same company however they still inspire me every time I browse by. Good luck and Thanks for the hard work! |

^ also..
Something of note is the dynamic select-ability of the style sheeting you can see on the demo of each rockettheme template. I imagine that being a login preference for faction type to change the color scheme and unlock faction specific irc/ ps2-tv info =) but im just an eager fan. |

I'm not really digging having a comments section on news posts -- and then having Hamma (or others) create threads in the forum about either the news posts themselves (in Hamma's case) or the same topics as the news post.
It just ends up being two threads of discussion about the same thing, that requires you to go to two different places to read all the community discussion. |

For those on iPhones, iPads or using Safari I've implemented the article tag. It means you can read our news pages using the reader built into the browser:
It also works on Content pages. On the downside it doesn't seem to be 100% reliable for all news posts.
