I think that while manual would be cool, it's really NOT important to the game itself. I don't think it would do anything other than be kinda cool, maybe improve off-road stuff or climbing, but none of that is truly important to the game as it stands today.

I would love manual in my Lighting and a speed up of some ground vechs (only buggies)
bu tnot clutch manual, somethjing liek thsoe new luxury cars have were its automatic but you can put it into sport mode and shift the gears up and down by yourself

Well i like manual driving, it help curb my naturally bad driving & speed urges...too busy concentrating changing gears.
I mean they say women are bad drivers on urban roads, but put them in a tank & point them at the enemy..... "Driver, you just pushed that AMS off the bridge, and double parallel parked on a squad of enemy troops. dammit woman, your good." Oh yeah, i like the way manual cars can go faster then automatic, its a good trade off.... (But suddenly i want a Automatic, just because... )

It would make it quite hard to drive a 1-person vehicle. Now that single person would have to drive, gun, and shift. It's all ready pretty hard just driving well and not running into trees as your firing at infantry.
The real advantage of a manual car is you can usually rev it higher, giving you better acceleration if you know what your doing and also, they can reach higher speeds, but only by 5 or so MPH. It's not really needed in PS. |

since i saw some "IRL" nonsense in this thread, i'd like to add:
modern tanks (the turbine-powered sort, like mr. abrams) use hydrokinetic drives. in the case of the american m1a1 and a2, that means four forward and two reverse. most importantly, they don't shift like your aunt's buick, which is a completely mechanical drivetrain. however, having manual on non-tracked vehicles makes sense, imo; especially the ams

Also as some have said before it would be an option, though it would ive you a teeny bit of advantage, and how hard is pushing a button down after you accelerated so much to shift to a different gear( i assum it woudl be the 'E' and 'C' keys as those are perfect)
