I keep toying with with the idea of trying this game out again. I can see how it would be fun if you had people to play with. I played for a few months with a couple of friends and I have to admit the skill training system is awesome. I loved being able to advance skills while i was at work, sleep, out at the bar, even on vacation.
Does anybody have any recommendations for how to hook up with the right people? As soon as I started my character I had people spamming me to join their corps and sending me free cash which I liked, but it was kind of overwhelming. You really need someone to hold your hand and tell you what to do because the game is so open ended and huge it has a pretty vicious learning curve, which can be pretty daunting if you don't have a lot of time to research how to get started. |

Don't listen to half the people that offer you money or ships. Most corps out there just want you to mine for them, and make you their slave. Though, some, like our corp, will actually help you.
There are good corps out there, but they are hard to find. One of the best things to do in this game is PvP, but too many corps are just miner/mission runners, if you find a good PvP corp that will take noobs, they can teach you alot. And you'll have loads of fun. Just pick your friends wisely. Stuff like stealing from corps is allowed in this game, infact a small percent of players make it a profession to steal from others, though it is looked down apun by most. So just make sure you're not getting ripped off. If any of you decide to join again, join the "PSU" channel when you get in, that's where we all hang out at. |

LesserShade,
With all due respect to Sobe, he has never played the game for a period more than 3 months. Hes never run a sucessful corp that lasted more than one. If you really want to play EVE for 100% what its worth go to the PSU channel like Xmodum suggested. Electrofreak and my self have been playing SOLID for almost 2 years now. Im a major leader in a mega corp navy. Electro is a sub leader, under me infact, Infernus might join us soon, Everay is in our corp but on vacation... basicly a bunch of PSUers in a solid corp. No worries about starting a new one and all that. Its sooo much easyer to get into an existing one and climb to power. You stand a 90% chance of having any cor you join fall out from under you unless its clearly defined. My corp is one of them. And yes, it occurs to me that this is exactly what you were talking about. Contact me in game whenever you resub. Ingame names CDLPeacemaker PSXmodum ActiveX |

Peace said it all.
The reason he has a character named "PSxmodum" is that was my first char about a year ago. I used it and fucked up the skills, took a 4 month break and gave it to Peace. I figured I could have it back when I came back but Peace HAD been paying for it for longer than me, so we agree'd that I'd make a new account and I could use PSx for building. I don't even use him anymore since I can support myself now in 0.0. So an easy way to remember is the PS stands for "Peace's Slave". Anyways.....carry on. |

I have nothing to prove to you. Have fun with your little navy. |

Oh we are. Maybe you've been hearing about our little operation in EC-P8R.
Also, gotta love being in a well-funded combat group. In about a month I'll be flying a carrier at no expense of my own, (including skillbooks) and I've got a whole wing of ships under my command (including 2 dreadnaught pilots). Within the couple months we've run the Navy we've racked up a pretty impressive list of kills. Peacemaker is also getting a Carrier, and has been given a full set of Standard (+4) implants by the corp to aid ActiveX in his training. We get free battleships for PVP from the corp, and our miners get free Hulks (our CEO has the BPO). Don't think everything is about hand outs either though, EOG built its own Outpost, and a few weeks ago our Navy generated about 4 billion isk to fund our expenses with only a couple days mining Ark and Bistot. Add to that the fact that we can each generate about 100 million isk a day ratting for our own personal profit, such as funding our Tech 2 ships. All in all, our "little navy" is doing pretty well. It's a hell of a force to be reckoned with. I'm not trying to start a pissing contest Sobe, but we founded the navy division of EOG and it's become a success that far surpasses our wildest dreams. That said, let's not turn this thread into a mud-slinging fight between those of us in EVE who aren't on the best of terms. The goal is to get people interested in the game, I really enjoy seeing someone start to play and realize that EVE is just the game for them; I hope to see more of our members join the ranks of PSU players playing EVE Online.
