I can't stand the magrider. I've been shot out of the air while in a reaver or mosquito more times than I'd care to mention.
And the water thing is annoying too, yeah. Vanguards and Prowlers can't do jack with a Magrider pecking them from 150m out on a river. |

I maintain that you could give one empire the Wave Motion Cannon and people would defend it as 'part of the empire flavor and totally fair".
I guess 'bypassing all chokepoints with childish ease' is part of VS' 'empire flavor'.

and really about time we had one too.
TR: Light fast weapons, relying on mass of lead into the air to put down the enemy NC: Heavy slow weapons, relying on a single well placed shot to put down the enemy VS: Abnormal attack angles, use of water, MAX jump jets etc to put down the enemy.

exactly the VS are all about mobility. What it lacks in fire power and punch it makes up with manuverability.
So if you say that the magrider is a annoying monster put it in a place where its options are limited or easily predicted...............or just go get your own |

Its not what tank it is, It's who's inside the tank. Any experianced Magrider gunner can take out a Vamgaurd just because of the direct fire. If the driver is strafing around everywhere, the vangaurd won't even hit the Mag with its slow, lobbed missles.
So, The Magrider is useful in lots of situations.

The magrider is an awsome tank, I just perfer the thresher becuse I can drive it while wearing reinforced echo. Plus ive been attacked many a time by a magrider, it is the untimate mower and can take out infantry quicker then a os as long as there is no decis or other vechicals.

My outfit captured a TR tank once, and I gunned in the MG turret. The main gun owned 5 vanguards and numerous light vehicles. Reavers were a pest, but I still took down 3 out about 6 runs on us (the others ran away) and mosquitos wouldn't come near us.
The armour at our disposal was great. Those pesky infantry troops that can wipe out a mag hardly scratched us. The only problem I found with the prowler was that it ate ammo up quickly. The loadstar giving extra mobility and support to the terrans will certianly help them out. Loadstar = chokepoint avoidance. So stop your moaning.

Direct fire weapons rule. The Mag has an advantage when it can keep the enemy at arm's length, making it difficult for the enemy gunner to dial in the right gun elevation. Incidentally, this also happens to be the NC's weakness-- staying back and not letting them close the distance. On the other hand, the Vanguard's splash damage is so massive that even if the long distance shots are misses they will often wear the mag down. This really brings it down to the skill of the Mag gunner while his driver is moving over hills and terrain, trying to keep away from the Vanguard.
