Doom? Doom 2 was better and spawned an active modding community.
PS1 not on the list? I quite liked PS1. PS2 might be more popular but it's only attempting to 'stand on the shoulders of a giant'. In between Doom2 and PS1 there was nothing notable. |

Soldier of Fortune is not there which is the first game that I can remember where you could specifically shoot enemies in different body parts with different effects. Something like 16 different areas.
Shot in the foot or knee would cripple the enemy. Shot in the arm or hands would blow them off. If they were holding a weapon in their hand and you shot that hand they would drop it. Shot in the stomach and their guts would fall out. Shotgun to the head and the base of their skull was the only thing left.... come on! No other game was like that. |

PS1 was a milestone in many ways.
But it really sucked at the whole shooting part compared to its contemporaries.

Planetside 2 is fun, but certainly not in my top 5 even. But the other games in the top 5 I have played out.
My top games Day of Defeat - great feeling weapons. fast game play. very competitive and skill based. Neverwinter Nights - Best RPG ever. Multiplayer and can have a DM give it that pen and paper feel. Download community packs for extra realism and it makes the game far better. Counter Strike - say what you will, I have played the hell out of this game all the way back to beta. Unreal Tournament 2004 - fast paced action. very difficult and unforgiving. Great mods. Half Life 2 Allegiance - MMO space sim combat game. Portal Quake 3 Left 4 Dead 2 - great co-op LAN game. Planetside 2 Unreal Tournament 99 .... |

And PS2 has been around what 6-7 months and 3rd best of all time? I mean the game isn't bad but standing the test of time is what makes anything great and the jury is still out on PS2. |

nobody else dares to admit he liked postal 2?
this game spawned an even bigger discussion about gore and violence in computergames. but i admit, i wouldn´t want to meet the dev at night in a forest who came up with all the crazy shit you could do in that game.

That game was done in poor taste as it was directly related to post office killings at the time (going postal). If you you want to make a most controversial list then that would be near the top.

Ouch, way to shit on Unreal Tournament by putting it under Bioshit AND MECHWARRIOR ONLINE.
Tribes 1 or 2 aren't even on the list but Stalker, No One Likves Forever and SWAT 4 makes it? Really? |

Giant fail of a list. PS2 would break my top 10 as a *shooter*. But other than that this list is really off base IMO. |
