Users could choose to show name tags or not in PS1, I don't see why they would not keep the good ideas in PS2.
Now different name colors distinguishing between outfit members, friends, squad members and platoon members would be nice. Even though friends would tend to be on the same empire, a different shade of red for friends playing on an enemy empire could be fun too. Maybe another shade of red for members of your outfit's "nemesis" would also be fun. No XP bonus attached to nemesis kills though (or it could be exploited by setting largest enemy outfits as nemesis to maximize bonus XP). |

Not a fan of tags really, but it would make sense if you could choose how you want peoples names to be displayed.. for example you could have:
For those people who want to minimise clutter but still see what outfit people are from. Name - Tag e.g. Snipefrag (AA) for those who like the traditional PS1 display: Name Outfit e.g. Snipefrag Archangels-K and for the people that really like clutter: Name - Tag Outfit e.g. Snipefrag (AA) Archangels-K And obviously just the name only. I imagine it just being 2 check boxes to enable tag and outfit to be shown in the HUD section.

Heh, I sense a lot of misunderstanding in the thread... I for one would like to see Tags like I have historically in some other FPS (like you're talking about in OP SKYeXile).
I think it's a simple, harmless way of quickly identifying people without being overbearing, and setting it based on membership of an outfit means that you're not burdened by having it as a permanent part of your char name. |
