I really hope avatars in general are global. That way if your server is totally full, you can just join another and keep all your stuff. They may have to do this if there are only going to be 3 maps per server to start.

First I heard of Us vets getting name reservations, this would be cool and much needed in some cases

But from what I heard we get 1 character per server. The 1 guy across all server would suck though, as you may want to play a different Empire on another server. Specaly on a new game you would not want to keep remaking a guy from scartch if you want to try different sides, then find out you liked playing the first Empire you tryed. Would suck to have to replay him from scratch, or you would have to create several accounts.

I am not particularly worried about my name being taken lol but I still see this as an issue that is very worthy of attention. People who put there time into this community and helped shape PS2 through involvement in the first game should have some ability to reserve names.

It's superficial but I think this is important.

I'm for 1 empire per account. Then, your characters can be allowed to jump servers with the same character names. if you must play the other empires, create new account and names. Your mains should be given your favorite names.

I hope they have cross-server cross-empire character names to avoid the server merge name problems and impersonators on other servers.

my name was 888 and a lot of places won't either let me start my name with a number or not use numbers period

but yea reserving names would be cool

I hope Planetside 2 allows for three letter names. I always prefer to go by Xyn.

Been playing planetside since 2004. I don't like this idea, new game all names should be available.

I personally think Player and Outfit names should be one offs. As in someone named DirtySanchez would be the only PlanetSide character with that name on any server.

But, and maybe this is a bit of a stretch for most imaginations, why not make characters and outfits universal? Independent of servers? You simply play on which server you want to play on with your character, but your character can transfer upon login. Outfit membership could also be interserver.

I agree with this too.

If Apple and Microsoft and any other company with server farms can do it, then SOE can do it. Let us jump servers anytime we want and take our outfits with us. Please.

No. Outfits and characters must stay on the server where they were created and earned their points/rep. There is no reason to be able to transfer characters between servers at free will.
