Heh, my career sorta went like this.. (or still is)

1. We went to war with teddies, kicked their ass
2. We got pwned by an merc alliance
3. Floated around in Emp space in a Dest
4. Shot some pirates
5. Floated in Emp space some more
6. Trained about 4.4mill skill points
7. Sit in some Jita Space station for the last month

Grant it, 3 - 7 is largely my fault.. But with that one damed bug it makes it hard to go anywhere to long.

While it's all and I'm a kind of guy but I'm sorry Peace, your not the victim you make it sound like.

You wern't made an FC you self-appointed yourself to FC. It gave you a bit of an inflated ego, and that rubbed alot of people the wrong way(that's why most DDC leadership hates you btw. partly seen on sunday with the DDC fleet).

Me, I can easily put up with your character, but quite a few other's can't. That's why you had issues with solst leadership, they're are very easy going, you are not. They play the game "Hurray this is fun!", you play the game "THIS IS FUN PUCK-ASS-MOTHERFUCKER".

but let see, me
Joined XETIC(before the PSDU/Sharks war)
Made some money
Moved to impass when ASCN split from Xetic
killed people up north
had to fall out of game for a few months
back now(hopefully)killing more people up north.
Trying to become a merc with a few others in the near future.

Because it's alot of work to perfect these things, giving it away gives away your secrets thus another company can come along and possibly steal said ideas to build an even better server cluster. It's just common business sense hehe - it's like turning over the atom bomb plans to Japan back in the day

Overall the game looks a bit to confusing to me

Honestly CCP is the kind of company that would love to share what works well.

Espeicaly if a company wants to sink that kind of money into a MMO of the same calibur.

Rob, frankly I dont care what ya say... I started leading gangs alot. I became recognized as a FC. It didnt rub anyone the wrong way except possibly you and everay. Infact I havnt said one thing on the forums suggesting that I have large ego because of being a FC. You wanna talk about that Everay did the same thing when yall joined xetic. He came prancin into the room and said he was an FC b.c he led a gang of 10 people for an hour. Ive led northern raids, PF-346 raids, and home defence. I say im an FC because I steped up to the plate like cyvok asked people to. You gonna call me a liar or say im using it to inflate my ego? Screw you too. Im doing what comes natural to me. Being a leader. DDC does not hate me, I talk to them alot. CEO Pyrex and I were talkin for a while after the battle on sunday. Nothing went wrong on sunday sept a little communications break down. I didnt make my self to be a victim. I disagreed with what Cyvok did, he basicly said "your on thin ice." and cordy said "Nah Ill boot him." As for the rest of DDC leadership hating me... they hate ANYONE who takes a leadership position b/c they think they should be kings of all. And FYI EOG is a laid back corp, and I fit right in. Lofty goals and a spirit to achive them. I didnt fit in SOLST b/c Solst was like "Eh, its just a game." EOG is like "Its a game where you can be someone!" and I want to be someone. I am quickly climbing up the ladder.

P.S. if ya wanna continue the convo, we can take it to the IG PSU chan

P.S.S. I have an ego. So does MT... so does half the leaders of the alliance... I really dont care if they dont like me. I know ALOT of general ASCN members who do. Cyvok likes me. Extreme my CEO likes me. My new corp mates like me. Thats all that matter.

CCP advertises how thier servers are set up partly because they really like to show off how dedicated they are. And, they really are. When people complained about database lag when moving items and such, they spent who knows how much money on solid-state high-speed drives. When people complained about lag in space they bought 70 of these IBM servers with 64-bit AMD processors, and upgraded everything today. All patches and expansions are free, and when the game devs go to fan faires they make a point to get falling-down drunk for their fans and give stuff away. EVE Online even has it's own quarterly magazine now, "EVE-O".

All in all, I've gotta say, CCP is the coolest damn game company ever. The best part is they are their own publisher, there is nobody telling them what to do but the game developers themselves. The game has a pretty good player base right now (over 100,000) and while it's not near WoW proportions by a long shot, they don't need to deal with a publisher pocketing most of the profits.

As for EVE being complicated, that's probably it's main selling point. This game is NOT your kiddie MMO. It tends to attract older, more mature players because of this fact, and in my experience has a more mature community than most. The game doesn't have a clear cut path, it is what you make it. It's a totally freestyle game and thus is pretty amazing as a result. The level of politics and economics and tactics you can get involved in within EVE is mind-staggering. It's also absolutely massive, with at least a thousand unique solar systems forming an actual galaxy that is simply huge.

The game also carries with it a higher level of risk than most other MMOs. While you can insure your ships, the more expensive / better ones tend to have less payout / cost more to insure. It's possible to lose a ship that you spent a week working on building in a matter of seconds in PvP, and while it seems like this would make the game stressful (and perhaps, sometimes it is a bit nerve-wracking) it means that people in general play the game a lot more cautiously and smarter than you'll see in other MMOs, emphasizing the importance of using your head in EVE. The game can be unforgiving at times, and CCP allows crime to be part of that universe. So if you want to be a pirate and blow people away, or even try to be a thief and/or scammer, it's all allowed. This doesn't make EVE a griefers paradise however, as the ability to declare war on enemies, set bounties on enemies, have revenge kill rights contracts, and the protection of NPC police provides players with the ability to protect themselves.

Like I said in another thread, EVE is sorta like chess. A tricky game to play, and certainly not a quick casual game you can sit down and play in a couple minutes, but the satisfaction you get when you achieve a goal (or just blast some guy's battleship into dust) is pretty intense. PvP in EVE is more exciting than a FPS in the way it gets my blood pumping. Perhaps it's the risk involved, the fast pace of most combat scenarios, or seeing your hard work pay off when you succeed that makes it so fun.

Lastly (and yeah, I know I'm making this into a book), it's definately a social game. Half of EVE is finding friends and getting into a good corp that can help support you. It can make or break the game for a new player if he doesn't find a group that is fun and supportive. Playing solo isn't really all that fun IMO, the game is very much based around group play. It integrates it into the game very well, with clans known as "corporations" and essentially being a business in the EVE universe. Each corporation tends to have it's own goal for making cash and gaining its members power and infamy. Whether it's hiring out as mercenaries in wars between other corporations, pirating other players, building weapons and ships, running missions or claiming vast stretches of contested space, you pretty much have your choice.

It's a damn good game.

EDIT- and Rob, Peace isn't just blowing it out his ass. He is an official Fleet Commander of the Eye of God Navy, with myself being a Lieutenant Commander. We've literally got billions in funding. When both of us get into Carriers next month, the corp will be providing us with everything we need, from the expensive skills to the ships and fighters themselves, for free. In return we, and our couple-dozen Navy members, have pledged to make EOG an important part of the ASCN combat fleet. With our own outpost being put up soon (along with a second shortly after that) EOG and ASCN will be developing additional assets that will need protection by a dedicated combat force, not just a bunch of people who slap heavy launchers onto their ospreys when word goes out that an invasion force is incoming.

I'm not rippin on ya man, but the elitist attitude that I've been seeing from you and certain other PSU members who started playing EVE really killed some of the respect I've had for you folks. It's easy to forget who taught you how to play from the seat of his Tech 2 frigate, then kill a couple people in PvP and turn around and tell said person that you know more about the game than he does. Frankly, it was offensive to those of us who brought you guys into the game, and has resulted in some bad blood, and your constant critque does little to improve things.

If you don't think we have the experience you do, fine, you're entitled to that opinion, but please keep it to yourself. I know Peace's bragging bothers you, but the rest of us who play alongside him have learned to accept his ego as part of his personality, and also realize that he DOES have some bragging rights. Everyone has their own bragging rights to be honest, and it really doesn't need to end up being a pissing contest. Drama is stupid. If you can't get along with us, play the game your way and we'll play it ours, it's as simple as that.

/me was in Ikuchi too. 2 consecutive days. Although the lag got me the mast evening, it was still great fun.

I only have 6,5m sp, but still made some nice kills.
On the second evening we formed a gang to to remove the station gankers, which worked to some extent.

After that we just started to gank everything too.

Lag was horrible the last time I warped to station. Took forever to load, and I was in my pod when I could finally see something.
That might be due to the massive amounts of cans and drones around, and a lack of RAM on my machine.

And that was just the first day, when the serious fighting still had to start.
The second time was way worse, over 120 people in system at some point, with most of them at that station.

.... then your in. The titan ship has the undenably most intense firepower of anything ever imagined in the eve universe. Capable of unleashing a super weapon that can destroy everything withing 200km (very large area) it is arguebly the most influencial ship in the game to own. No one has any yet.. it takes almost 2 years to fly them. But when you can... its flown by not just you, but by an alliance. Whome ever wins the titan race in eve will gain unparralleled military might, and political power. And my money is on ASCN. We have everything we need, just waiting for a few skill points to finish for the builders to build it...

P.S. It takes a LONG time to train for this ship... but its worth it... and along the way you do learn other ships. They are just prereqs... I strongly suggest anyone who wants a new game to play to try EVE. Having a friend in the biggest alliance in the game isnt a bad thing either.

btw Elec, that comment to rob... QFT man... TY for backing me up a bit. But... did you just say I have bragging rights??? This is a first! /me straps on his anti armageddon suit (no not the ship)

They blew up a planet in one of the faction's home world systems the other night.

EDIT- and yes, Peace, I did. We all do. We have a kickass corp willing to provide us with whatever we need to succeed, and you get to call most of the shots. I'd say that warrants bragging rights.
