Have you seen my streams? I can fly a any aircraft and land any aircraft with a lot of skill. The point is this is a fast paced game, and when you have a full platoon waiting for you to land, 3rd person makes it so much smoother. And I'm sure they all wont clap their hands when you park between the 2 big trees. But I'm sure as hell they will have your life if you hit on of them and the thang gans pop!!

This isn't Microsoft Flight Sim, this is war and time is essential.

Also (now we are off topic a little) its occasionally nice to be able to see your vehicle when your flying/driving it. I like to see them, they look amazing. Look how many times Higby used 3rd person in the GDC video.

Sorry to change topic a little.

honestly cockpit view looks annoying, the lines running through screen and the red circles are distracting, I would much rather play with the HUD view, I vote not to force it on the players. why should people who don't like the cockpit view have to deal with it just because other players like the "aesthetically pleasing" option and don't want to compromise their "competitive edge". It should be a trade off, if you want to pretend you are in an alien space army and look around your space cockpit then you just won't be as competetive

This is something that will not happen in PS2. To many customizations Mr.

Forced first person cockpit + 3rd person + hide UI option hiding the cockpit, reticule, HUD and everything else for filming of cinematics.

Since it's something that effects game balance, it should be forced.

This is similar to PS1's ground foliage problem. It was nice to turn on, and since my PC could handle it I wanted it on, but everyone turned it off because it got in the way.

People with a cockpit view are obviously at a disadvantage, it's a smaller field of view. If it was an optional thing, anyone with a competitive mind set (which should be everyone) will just turn it off. Immersion is nice but it doesn't trump performance

Can 3rd person view of aircraft be used exploitatively? If yes, then the best that should be allowed is to turn off the interior cockpit view and have HUD only.

If not, why would it matter?

This is correct, and does not change anything. Having a Cockpit view party obscured VS. someone who does not does grant an advantage.

Everyone needs to be playing the same game.

I agree that it should be forced. It adds to the level of gameplay (blind spots can be used to your advantage).

If they don't force the cockpit it's a clear advantage for anyone who turns it off. At that point you'd be an idiot for not turning it off and most of the players wouldn't have it on.

The must be forced or it is meaningless.

Definitely forced. I think it will improve immersion. If you had a choice, you would have to choose between immersion and a slight advantage, so just make it mandatory.

I agree with this. I would also like the ability to look left/right out the window though.

I don't like allowing the 3rd person view at all, but I understand it makes forming up, landing, etc. a great deal easier. I don't think you should be able to fire your guns in 3rd person view.

In response to what some people are saying, why can't the pilot be able to turn his head within the cockpit to see all around him? That would address many of the objections I see, such as for landing, forming up, etc.

I was unaware FOV settings blocked your screen. Even if forced, FOV changes will still include the model.

I agree it should be forced, or not exist at all. any chance of getting a blue person to say which one it is?
