Ya, lighting up a target for airstrike could be a little un balanced but i really hope air support is a major part. And flak, that would be pretty cool. However a quick and easy targeting system would be very useful. I mean what is quicker, taking the time to type in "We have a tank closing in at 8 o'clock" or just pop out a little laser and point at something which pops lights up the tank and everyone knows eactly where it is. Even better this little laser pointer could easily be attached a secondary fire option.

I think you should be able to paint a target for an air strike, but for said airstrike to come some of your hombres need to hop in bombers and fly their butts over there and bomb it hehe, proably getting a few shot down on the way, so its still players killing players, not bomber bots.

Yea thats how it worked in T2 it was simply painting.. an automated bombing system ALA RTCW would just be unbalanced, plus then everyone and their moms would be out there calling airstrikes.

And who wants to game with their mom?

Ok here's an idea - you can use a laser pointer to target a place which will show up on eveyone on your outfit/squad's radar. Like in Age of Empires 2 =]

That would be useful for air strikes, but from player controlled aircraft, or if you want to regroup somewhere. Lots of uses.

Painting in T2 is more useful than is being argued in this thread. It doesn't have to be the driver of a tank to paint targets for its gun (as well as heavies carrying mortars). The painter isn't widely used on public servers because it requires teamwork and communication, and like Unregistered said it leaves you an obvious sitting duck.
