You also can't rule out the possibility that the soldier had AP rounds, and from what I can gather from all the information I've read, AP rounds do straight health damage to armored infantry targets and are the only bullet-type rounds that do anything at all to vehicles. Of course, that's just a guess from someone who has never played the game, so don't quote me or anything.

actually, i think that VS max did die in the end, cause it looks like the dude got BEPs. But he was firing back, and the people firing were kinda in a bad spot behind that door frame. Also, i think they were hitting it with crappy weapons, weren't they?

you can clearly see large purple blasts coming from a lower floor (where the MAX probably landed when he "flew away") as the player is looking thru the door to the left.

Unless you meet an entire squad of AV MAXes that are specifically designed to kill you...then 2/3rds of your force=ineffective! Bwa-hah!

all i'm saying is that there is no real point in having normal infantry with this system, except to hack and repair. A well organized team would have no problem owning all with mostly maxes and vehicles. I'm basically saying that i'm starting to realize that they aren't giving as much insentive to be a fast moving master twitcher as i'd like. Of course i don't know, but IMO, the balance looks really thrown off as of now

You're forgetting that MAXes can't use any items except their own ammo and can't use rifles/pilot vehicles. So if you want to be a sniper, you wouldn't be a MAX, and in FPS games there's usually a LOOOOOOOOOT of snipers. Also, MAXes only carry one specific type of weapon, a reinforced could carry an anti-vehicle and an anti-personnel weapon AT THE SAME TIME. So yeah MAXes are good at what they do, but that's really the only thing that they're able to do.

Hmmm is there an Anti-MAX MAX too? It seems to me like there are gonna be alot of people who use maxes, but I don;t think they will constantly be in them, like on a defensive force you might have some but uless your part of a group no MAX is gonna walk all the way around the map in that suit.

while i do understand that they are only good at one of 3 things, they also are really really hard to stop because of the massivo amount of armor. So, it would be really hard for infantry to do anything to them, since they really don't have enough firepower. So an AA max could just run around trying to tag an infantryman with his flak cannon for a while, and thus be good against infantry anyway. and i know that there are a lot of snipers, and that will be just another reason to be a max. Snipers will do nothing to you. So everyone who gets fed up with snipers will just start using maxes tanks and snipers all day long. I just think with this current setup, the game is going to become very monotinous very fast.

Infantry can carry anti-vehicular weapons, and MAXes, for all intents and purposes, fall under the category of vehicles. For every item/piece of equipment in the game, there seems to be a counter. Infantry are the only things that can go inside buildings; all the vehicles are restricted to the outside. So if that group of infantry happens to include some MAXes, it's up to the opposing force to have a counter for the MAX, of which there are several (AV handheld weapons, AV MAXes, AP ammo, etc.) Don't call the game unbalanced until you play it and/or read up on it.

As far as I understand it.
Infantry are versatile. An infantry can hack, medic and engineer. He can carry anti-vehicle weaponry, and he can carry anti-infantry weaponry. He can move quickly, fit into tight spots, pilot (if agile), cloak (if stealth) and all in all, provides an outdoor/indoor fighting machine of insane caliber. A few infantry with their footspeed and AP weaponry would toast an army made up totally of MAXes, even indoors (thumpers and ALL the powers of engineering/medic will play a huge part in this advantage). Yet, a MAX, while obviously superiorly armored, suffers from being painfully slow, and even has a limit on turning speed. You have no versatility. You may have a single weapon, and an ability of extreme magnitude, but that's it. You can't hack, you can't revive, you can't put down engineering, you can't snipe, you can't drive, you're painfully slow, and without infantry support, you're toast. A MAX is a god at it's particular role. You'll need AA MAXes, AV MAXes and AI MAXes. But if you don't have any infantry, then you probably won't end up taking a base. Not with the sheer number of tricks up an infantryman's sleeve. I forsee armies normally consisting of at least a third MAXes, and then the other 2 thirds devoted to either vehicles or infantry roles. Cause when I come running around the corner with a jackhammer and some AP rounds, covered by my squadmates, the MAXes will die, and a medic will simply pick me back up in a good minute or so. Infantrymen rock. I love the infantry, and I want to shoot, kill, hack, and revive my way around the clumsy but indomitable MAXes (the ultimate support to help my infantrymen) and support my ground and air vehicles with a variety of weapons and abilities. Remember, MAXes, tanks, buggies, bikes, dropships, air superiority fighters, and recon vehicles help you win the game, but in the end, it'll be your infantry who do the work that counts. Capturing bases, reviving the dead, repairing vehicles MAXes and bases, and setting up defense.
