I'm not talking about the capability of doing that. I'm talking about the willingness to do that. The entire uproar is about that communities are being separated, as if new ones cannot be created. I'm in agreeance that this was an audacious and maybe even entirely idiotic move on SOE's part, but what I think is more absurd is that people are so unwilling to create new communities that they're going to abandon the game entirely.

If this is a form of protest, then I'd say that it hasn't been well thought out. Letters, phone-calls, e-mails, and any and all forms of communication first must be enacted. Following that, a petition. But actually contributing to the death of a game you've never played because you're preemptively disappointed is childish and absurd.

You already were with The9 handling the Chinese market of Planetside, but nobody cried about that.
Of the communities that come under "my existent communities", none of them were Chinese, so no, no I wasn't.

It's really not as big of a deal to me I guess. I had just as much fun on Emerald before they brought the servers together. Yea it sucks that some outfits will have to say goodbye to some friends. I'm not going to miss any of the CN noobs. And how much do you think SOE cares about a very small handful of players that this bothers, out of 10s of thousands that will be playing PS2.
There is no way they will change it. They have probably been lining this up for over a year now. It's unfortunate.

Too early. I am going to avoid Pro7 for the time being, till I've been given reason to at the very least trust they won't abuse my personal data.

Indeed, you had to go to some length to even play with the Chinese.

This isn't to say that some may not have done so, nor that some of the Chinese players (who continued playing on the remaining servers after Chinaside was shut down) aren't affected by this, but we haven't heard anything to indicate either.

I've spent 5 years building a community. It is more important to me that any other aspect of gaming. My clan and I play many games together - PlanetSide having been just one of them. While I'd love it if we were around to defend our title as winners of the Outfit Wars and continue enjoying the next incarnation of PS2, SOE and Pro7 seem to be prohibiting that. Therefore I'm going to make the most visible statement of my discontent possible. As I've said, I have a lot of corporate experience in this matter. If you believe letters, emails or petitions are more valuable or visible than exit questionnaires, you are mistaken.

This.

Is the problem with gaming today. This is why companies even decide to pull bullshit like this. This is why Activision and EA are so successful. People like you encourage people like them to screw over everyone else.

I'm glad I had nothing to cancel though

But, if I didn't already disagree with P2W and refused to buy anything from SOE for PS2, I would certainly be refusing to pay now.

Have ya played Planetside in the last few years? Then you've played with and against CN players. They are part of the community, just as much as anyone else. Not 1 person said 1 word about The9 "segregating" the community.

Wait, if you already disagree ever so adamantly with Planetside 2 you would never purchase anything from Sony Online Entertainment, why are you on this forum? Or are you only referring to their microtransaction revenue model?

No, I'm not going to cancel my sub nor do I intend to. Sure its BS... I'm not going to get into it. With that said I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they will take care of this issue. Smed himself said he is working on it and at the moment that is good enough for me. I love Planetside and even if this does not get worked out I will still be playing PS2.

No. They can't keep me away from Planetside one, even after all their massive failures. Neither SOE, Pro7, You or anyone else can keep me away from Planetside 2. I highly doubt it'll fail because of this Pro7 shit.

Time will tell. We've made our statements (as community) the ball is at SOE's.

Just referring to microtransaction. No news = bad news. (Although PS2 already has a lot of problems just based off of what they've told us)

The problem is that these aren't just single-game communities. These are the same communities that carried Planetside through it's years. They're communities that we've grown up in and played multiple games with, together.

My complaint isn't as much with the inability to play with my friends itself, as it is with SOE demonstrating a complete lack of consideration, respect or gratitude to it's players. They've shown that they still don't give a single shit about us. They've shown that they still haven't learnt their lesson, despite the fact that it's brought them to a make-or-break scenario regarding the success of PS2 and EQ3. They've shown that even when they have a guaranteed win on their hands, they are determined to fuck it up by doing something no one wanted them to do.

Do I think such a company deserves to be successful? No. Do I think such a company deserves to fail? Absolutely.

Letters, phone-calls, e-mails and all such forms of communication fall upon deaf ears for a company that cares only about it's bottom line. To them, the only thing that talks is money, and they'll only start listening when that money starts to disappear.

I'll abandon this game not because I can't play with my friends, but because I can't bring myself to support such a sleazy company by playing it's game.
