Sorry I don't see the irony. Nearly 99% people living in industrialized countries use the internet - everyone is supposed to be a nerd then? You're pretty myopic to think the only people to surf and use forums are nerds. I don't know the first thing about hacking because when I as young I was out getting laid, doing drugs and skateboarding. Get a clue.

Same, now I'm bored out my mind waiting for the servers to go back up.

Sorry folks, this is my fault.

I have the day off, wife is busy and I was going to sit here and play all day.

I have accidentally shared my shit-fucking-luck with you all.

Sorry about that.

Oh, and how the hell does someone getting our account info affect the game servers being shut down. I mean, seriously?

It's all tied together. Authentication systems, login systems - one goes so does the other. They need to secure their systems therefore shut them down.

Times like this is the reason BF2/BFBC2 exists (and why I preordered BF3).

Supposedly 12,700 credit card numbers were stolen.

Wish these hackers would fuck off already.

Re: SOE Services Offline

Well, the SOE outage page has been updated now: http://www.soe.com/securityupdate/

The important bit:

We are today advising you that the personal information you provided us in connection with your SOE account may have been stolen in a cyber-attack. Stolen information includes, to the extent you provided it to us, the following: name, address (city, state, zip, country), email address, gender, birthdate, phone number, login name and hashed password.

Customers outside the United States should be advised that we further discovered evidence that information from an outdated database from 2007 containing approximately 12,700 non-US customer credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (but not credit card security codes) and about 10,700 direct debit records listing bank account numbers of certain customers in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Spain may have also been obtained - we will be notifying each of those customers promptly.

There is no evidence that our main credit card database was compromised. It is in a completely separate and secured environment.

I'm hoping I don't get credited from the days I have left to play.

Like: service goes back up, I have maybe a week gone from my 29-28 days left on planetside.

Things got ugly now that SOE is in the picture, and not just PSN. It might be a good thing that no one really know about PS:Next in the game media right now, because this is going to have to blow over at least slightly before the big media push about its release.

"Come give us your credit card info for our new great SOE mmo!" will not help sell the uninitiated on what PS:Next is, and can be. Given the growing stigma around Sony's online markets I have a sinking feeling that it can't be good for Planetside in the big picture.

It's 2011 and you are still using the old nerd stereotype? Honestly, how is being knowledgeable about computers any different than being knowledgeable about say, cars or football?

If this hacking is related to the geohotz(sp?) thing, then this is really fucking stupid.

Yeah its actually a good thing the media push never started in March as we thought it would. SOE kind of lucked out in that respect that by the time Everquest 3 an Planetside Next are really being pushed people will have forgotten the hacking.

Well that is assumed they manage to stop the hacking. Honestly I think at this point Sony might just want to put Linux back on the PS3 an cut their losses lol. Just wish these hackers would take on a real cause.
