I'm 100% for both vehicle and weapon jacking. I know weapon jacking isn't in.
Basically, you should get all the bells and whistles the other person had when you jack it. If they had smoke, faster ROF, a woodland paint job - you should get them. If the tank has faction colors anywhere on it they should revert to your faction colors. You're going to be killed eventually, and you can't save the vehicle in a garage, so I don't see any reason to not have all the perks someone else had if you steal it. |

Yeah, if you managed to steal a tank you should be able to use all its gear. It's rare enough to find an empty tank as it is.
Also though I think there should be some measures to stop this being abused such as people reguarly going to swap vehicles. Maybe jacking X's vehicles is disabled after you jack them 2-3 times in a short time period. |

The obvious downside is that once you lose the uncerted vehicle or weapon, it's gone forever. |

It was more of an in your face insult than any impact on the battlefield.
Ha-ha looki-looki, we got your tank, *Pppbbbbt*, ne-na-ne-na and so on. Pointless, but it was great fun and added flavour. As some has pointed out, if you steal it you should be able to use it (provided you've got the certs to handle the base weapon/vehicle). Side grades are just a temporary reward for your skill, cunning and audacity you employed to get your hands on it. It's a great way of testing stuff you haven't unlocked yourself yet (meh, this recoil compensator isn't really worth my upgrade points), and possibly a way to conserve empire resources. |

Simple solution, you steal what ever vehicle you want. If its not common pool, you gain NOTHING. Seriously, how is this even a issue? Only thing that non-common pool related advances that should happen would be like HA tank achievements or what ever, just like in the original Planetside.
Not everything needs to advance your character's cert tree. Sometimes its good to have a change in pace.

All vehicle upgrades should stay and the certs gained while using that vehicle should be the same as using a vehicle from your faction. Notice it's not the cert tree for that vehicle, just generic certs.
A warning should go off over your vehicle's health indicator to let you know it's being hacked though. You still should have only a few seconds to kill the guy hacking it though. |

As far as giving the driver an indicater is almost cheating imo simply because we infiltrators have to come uncloaked already just to hack, I figure it would work just how it works in a turret hack. We already run the risk of being shot and if we can get that close to your tank, sundy etc. I think we deserve some kind of reward rather then yet another challenge in where the driver can just look up and run around the tank real quick to shoot us and hop back in. |

It will be exploited for sure like Friendly Fire is being exploited.
Leaving a tanks next to enemy positions with an alt so your friends can jack them and destroy open spawn staging areas with infiltrators. It's much like how players log on to their alts to kill you with max or drop grenades so their friends from the other side can get through. I can see how much headache this is going to bring. Friendly Fire exploitation is bad as it is right now. |

This is easily resolved: Only hackers can steal enemy vehicles. And when they do, it automatically reverts to its plain-vanilla state -- no certs, no Hello Kitty bumper sticker -- but in their colors.
This would go a long ways towards bringing back the old sense of derring-do that being an infiltrator originally had. |

If someone steals a vehicle from another empire, I don't think anything on that vehicle should change, except for the color scheme. They should still be able to use any upgrades and it should retain anything that was added on. People complaining how that's unfair seem to forget that when you respawn you can pull another one. When the guy that jacked your tank gets blown up, he no longer has those fancy upgrades that he took a risk to get. It's not breaking the game or is unfair in any way, if they can steal an upgraded tank, so can you if you so choose. There needs to be an incentive for certing into a specialization and risking certain death to put it to use.
