I use Tex because that's where I'm from, and I am the gunslinging conservative skinny white guy that everyone would stereotypically associate with someone that would call himself "Tex". Therefore, I use it.
As far as the sporkster goes...I like him, I think he's doing an ok job, although he spends a lot of time blaming the lack of communication between himself and the dev team as the reason for him not having answers to our flames...err...questions.
There are several things he could be doing to be a better community facilitator, but on the whole, I think he's trying his best. He certainly puts the hours in.
