Halo 2 will be cool to see where the take the story, and the new gear + enemies will be cool, but it's still the same core game. I remember when the original halo was going to be an open-ended, go anywhere-do anything game.
Half Life 2 will be better, IMO because it offers a whole new style of gameplay based on the world around you. Block doors with desks, shoot up a creaky wooden frame in a warehouse and drop a stack of palletes on an enemy squad's head... perfect or near-perfect physics behind vehicles because each vehicle's parts "operate" on one another, ect. The mod possibilities are going to be rediclious.
