<shrugs> I've been playing NC Markov for quite some time now. Almost BR20. I have yet to encounter a Pounder(and crew) that was impossible to break through. I've seen plenty, and some of them make some good stands, but they majority of them are taken out pretty easily.

if it didn't have the ability to lob grenades around a corner and kill you in the stairwell before you even got to confront him I would honestly not care. at least I could get off a shot. however, it does have that ability, and for an AoE anti-infantry MAX I think that's just too much. between audio amp and his bouncing abilities your approach to him is essentially at his will. that blows.

The bounce ability its realy the problem. Combined with audio amp, nothing is geting through quickly. You might try an infiltrator, but the bastard is periodicly sweeping with DLV or spots you while you're moveing, so you have a 0-nilch chance of geting close enough to plant a boomer, let alone 2.
Devs realy need to realize that the bounce ability needs to be removed. |

The bouncing isn't a big problem really. In small battles, you can simply walk once you get near him. In large battles (espically towers) it's impractical to spam around corners due to the large number of friendly troops in the area. THe only time I find it a pain is that you can't use the hit and run tactic with the lancer that is so effective against all other maxes, it will get you while you run with the bouncing ability.

The Pounder is not as unbeatable as it used to be.
I remember not long after the game came out, there was an outfit of TR on Markov that would end the night by hitting the bio-lab on Amerish near the Vanu gate. They had a full squad of 10 Pounders backed up by Engineers and Medics. Their tactic was to enter the base while it was lightly defended. Go to the CC and start the hack. The Pounders would of course anchor out of direct sight of the two doors. As soon as a door opens (five Pounders covering each door) they all open up at once and spam the door until everything is dead and then switch to alt fire to spam down the hallway before the door closes. They would do this until they got low on ammo and then they would all move out and take control of the spawn room, hack terminals, rearm and repair and then move into the room behind the spawn room and hide. (For some reason nobody would check that room in the early days.) They would stay there waiting for the Vanu to resecure the base(killing anyone unlucky enough to stumble across their hiding spot) and then do it all over again. God that was annoying. It was genius and worked like a charm. Haven't seen it happen in a long time though. |
